I have mixed feelings about Caruso's. The service and attitude is terrible. The parking situation is horrendous (all of the spots in front of the restaurant front the highway making it difficult and dangerous to exit. The interior and exterior leave a lot to be desired. But, the stromboli is great. I've had the ziti when they've catered for a large meeting and it was pretty good. I've been there several times and the service has been worse each time I've been back. The last time I ate there, the service and bad attitude were inexcusable. We had a group of eleven and were taking a coworker out for her birthday. It took around a half hour to get our food, the majority of our party ordered stromboli. The stromboli was on lunch special for $5.75. When they brought them out, they were unsure what items were in each stromboli and had trouble getting the right orders to the right people. Several orders did not have the right extra items that were ordered with them. It took almost 20 minutes to get my drink refilled. One person in our party received their stromboli 15 minutes after everyone else because they accidentally made two of my order and forgot hers. When we paid, one of our party paid for the birthday girl's lunch, then left. The birthday girl approached the counter to pay (not knowing that someone had paid for her) and they tried to charge her. When another in our party brought it to their attention, the owner seemed to get angry and then told them that she still owed $1.34 for extra ingredients that were on her order (which she did order, but did not receive both because they messed up the order). They paid the $1.34 anyway just to avoid the hassle. When I paid for mine, rather than charge me for the "lunch special" stromboli at $5.75 and add $1 worth of extra toppings, they charged me the regular price $6.75 and added $1 for the toppings. When I placed my order, I specifically asked the waitress if I could add ingredients to the "lunch special" and she said I could. While I was checking out, I noticed that the duplicate of my order that they accidentally made was still sitting on top of the pizza oven. I offered to buy the mistaken order for half off, but she told me they wouldn't sell it for less than full price. The waitress told me they would feed it to the dogs. I used to tell everyone that they needed to try Caruso's because they had the best stromboli in town...They still do, but I won't recommend them anymore because of their poor service and attitude toward...
Read moreWe decided to support our small local business today. Our last visit to Caruso’s was good. This was definitely a mistake. We should have turned around after stepping out of the car in ankle length grass. We passed many restaurants on our way home just to support local because without local business the corporate world could control everything. The menu does note that prices have increased and I do understand that. Upon ordering we were even discussing pricing in front of the lady waiting on us. After ordering we noticed ants on the window. After getting the salad on the table the ants started to gravitate towards the food. The pizza came shortly after. The pizza was good and the ingredients were fresh. I had to get up and wait a while to get a box. She asked me if I was ready and I told her yes mainly because I wasn’t going to sit back with the ants. I was going to inform her about the situation but she was on the phone. While she was ringing up the order. I was looking at the menu to try and figure out why we were being charged $29 for a $17.75 pizza and a $2.99 side salad. She quickly said prices increased and it’s very expensive for us to change menus. I do understand that if prices increase for a business that they do have to pass it on to the customer. I couldn’t understand a almost $10 price difference though. There should at least be some type of menu that the customer could refer to that does have a current price. Since I don’t want to go to a restaurant that I may not know what price I will pay, I’ll take my business elsewhere. At the prices that they are charging now I could have eaten at a much higher class place where I would not have to worry about the ants. I didn’t intend on placing this in the reviews but when you inquire about something you shouldn’t get attitude. We were in the process of paying but couldn’t understand the steep price. Everything was good and the attitude changed when I asked why it was so much different. As I have said in the past I much rather leave a good review but if you are reading my reviews you should know the...
Read moreThis place is the greatest disappointment in Mebane. The food is good, but not worth dealing with the incredibly rude woman running the place and the shady delivery drivers. I have had multiple problems. I have ordered food and had it delivered with sodas or side items that I paid for missing, when I call to tell them about it, the woman gets an attitude and makes it very clear that she does not care. We have dined in, and never even received one refill of the drinks we have paid for after sitting with empty glasses for a half an hour. When I tried to get her attention, I got attitude. Now today, I order 30 dollars worth of food, I planned on a 5 dollar tip for driver. I gave a 50 dollar bill, which would make the change 15 dollars. The driver did not have enough change and had to go back. I received a call from the woman telling me that I need to let her know when paying in large bills, which I would understand if my change wasn't only 20 bucks tops, and she informed me that I was waisting her time and then hung up on me. I have always been polite with this woman, but she always has an attitude. This was the last straw for me. If she had been polite, I would have accepted it, and been fine, but quite frankly there are not enough derogatory words in the dictionary to describe this woman accurately. I will never spend my money...
