Heavenly Hawaiian Farms was incredible! My fiancé and I started the day with the farm tour. Bryce was incredible and very passionate about his job and teaching about the history and practices of the farm. Bryce was very personable and treated us like friends beginning the tour with introductions and taking the time to ask where everyone was from. We started the tour with some chocolate macadamia nuts aka mac-nuts, paired perfectly with the Kona Bright blend. YUM! We saw coffee trees of all ages, everything looked so healthy and beautiful! I had the privilege of planting a seed in the nursery because we observed coffee cherries that had been individually affected by beetles but after dissecting the cherries we found beans that were still good from the cherry… I named mine Kevin and I hope it makes it into adulthood and grows cherries for people to enjoy for decades. I absolutely loved it! No good bean goes to waste! Bryce was so much fun throughout the process cracking jokes, encouraging photos and even had props! They also grow more than just coffee, lots of little surprises, i would never think there would be fruit trees on a coffee farm but they also take great care of them as well! I was sad that the tour came to an end, but it ended with COLD BREW!!!!!
We then did the brewing course with Eleanore! As somebody who is a coffee pot/Keurig person but usually just picks up coffee on the way to work, I learned so much! She covered everything from water quality/temperature, to the size of grounds, to blooming, pour methods, French press, etc. I definitely took photos of the lesson board to keep all information as well as the super fun post card with the brewing lesson outline. After brewing the coffee we discussed the flavor profile and the flavors incorporated to the grounds. I guessed one profile correctly… but I will give no spoilers for future attendees! I absolutely intend on purchasing similar pour over and French press equipment. And of course I bought a variety of grounds from the gift shop, I know I’m getting the best and freshest quality beans straight from the farm.
We finished the day with the bean roasting course with Aubrey/Audrey… I think… I feel so bad not remembering her or the other girls name because they were also amazing and so much fun! Definitely got an arm workout with this one and realized that certain multitasks are not as easy as others. We got to keep our coffee beans that we roasted and they heat sealed the bags. We added the name of our beans as well, and of course, it was only fitting to name the beans Kevin Jr. but in hindsight… Grandpa Kevin would have been more fitting since Kevin is as the beginning of its life cycle and the roasted beans are toward the end. Oh well!
This is the best thing I’ve done in Hawaii, the best birthday present that I have ever given myself, very fitting because I am always drinking coffee.
One thing I love most about Heavenly Hawaiian is that they value the quality and flavor of their product rather than the amount of caffeine. Although caffeine is a big reason most people drink coffee (I am sort of one of those people), I truly believe that phenomenal coffee is totally worth slightly less caffeine per cup. Plus you can enjoy more flavorful coffee to get the caffeine rather than a heavy cup and drink only one.
I also appreciate that the coffee is labeled with flavor profiles so that consumers can get the full picture of what they are getting in their cup of coffee.
One piece of advice: Unlimited coffee samples are awesome! But make sure to eat a meal or purchase some snacks from the coffee shop! I sipped on coffee pretty much the entire time (realistically probably drank 10-15 cups of coffee the entire time we were there) and when we left I was craving protein and carbs to offset the amount of coffee consumed.
If you have the privilege of going to this farm, get the full experience and do as much as possible. All 3 activities were so much fun and I learned so much. Thank you all so much for a great experience and I hope to come...
Read moreWe had an amazing experience at Heavenly Hawaiian Kona Coffee Farm Tours! We decided to take the $25 Farm Tour after finding them through a Google map search, and it was definitely the right choice. The tour included samples of their beans and roasts, chocolates to start, and Hawaiian tea to finish.
Our guide, Bryce, was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and made sure to point out great details throughout the tour. He even had real examples of what he was describing, and at multiple stops, he offered to take photos for us, which was a nice touch. His passion and expertise truly made the experience memorable.
The farm itself had an organic, thoughtfully arranged layout. The different plants were strategically placed for optimal growth, and it felt like everything on the farm had a purpose. We also got to interact with Charlie, the farm’s lovable golden retriever, which added a personal touch to the visit.
The views from the hoshidana were breathtaking, offering panoramic sights of the farm with views stretching down to the ocean. As for the coffee, it was delicious, and I especially loved the fire-roasted variety. It gave us a true taste of Kona.
The staff went above and beyond, even offering bug spray for the tour, which wasn’t really necessary but appreciated. It was clear that they genuinely care about making your experience special.
All in all, this tour was one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommend it for anyone interested in Kona coffee and learning more about the region’s...
Read moreWe arrived at the farm on a perfectly, clear day. Just getting out of the car, in the parking lot, the views are to die for! We did not have to wait for our tour to begin and even if we did have to wait, our tour guide Townsend, would have been well worth the wait. Townsend started our tour with some samples of the coffee that were set out by the pool for everyone to try. As he talked about the farm, we enjoyed the freshly brewed coffee and the views. Walking around the farm, Townsend explained the coffee growing process and demonstrated how they dry the coffee. After our tour, we stopped by the gift shop and did a little shopping as well as ordered a coffee, from the coffee shop. We sat by the pool and enjoyed the view for at least an hour after our tour. If you are visiting the Big Island of Hawaii and are on the Kona side, visiting Heavenly Hawaiian is a must see. If you live on the Big Island, as I do, and have not visited the farm, it also is a must see! You will not regret it. Be sure to ask for Townsend to be your guide. He is so knowledgeable, kind, friendly, and funny and makes this a 5-Star tour for sure!! The entire staff was outstanding, as we met a lot of them and everyone was enjoying themselves as they were working about the farm operation. This was a FUN...
