Look. It's wendys. I dont go there expecting a Michelin star-worthy dining experience, but even with severely tempered expectations, this location in particular sucks so bad, so eggregiously, and so consistently, I have to write this review.
It's the only wendys within a 30 minute drive of my house so on occasion, I'll forget how terrible the staff is and I'll wander over for a spicy chicken. And every time something is disappointing. Fries? Always cold. Often re-heated and soggy. Their diet soda is always low on syrup. 100 percent of the time, we already know to immediately dump the drink. Regardless of how you order your food, you're at the mercy of the cook because they aren't even tentatively worried about accuracy.
For example, today we pull in, order a spicy chicken sandwich combo no mayo (repeated and confirmed), a grilled chicken ranch wrap no ranch (repeated and confirmed) and an additional chili with cheese and onions.
There is one car at the window ahead of us. They have that car pull ahead and wait. Dude runs their food out to them, the car starts to leave, dude runs out AGAIN bc they need them to wait bc they forgot something. No big issue.
Then we get to the window and pay, they have us pull forward too, and run our food out to us even though there was no one else in line. That suggests to me that they are trying to manipulate their completed order time, but whatever.
Dude eventually comes out with our food, and we start to pull out, and I think, hmm we better check. Fries are the usual cold to the touch that I've come to expect from this location, but I immediately notice there is no wrap. So we turn around, park and go in.
One thing that always stands out to me, is when any restaurant staff obviously tries to ignore customers when they walk up to the counter. And that's the case here. It's like watching 8 adult people silently claim "Not it!" And suddenly become very interested in anything and everything that won't require them to address their customer obviously needing their attention. Worse yet, there was a manager with a laptop doing the same game. It's literally as simple as, "hi we will be right with you." There was 1 car in the drive through, and one other customer in the store, and none of those 8 people can be bothered to say "be right there!".
Anyways, a man comes up and we explain the missing wrap. Again repeat and confirm no ranch. We hand him the reciept. We wait. Eventually he brings the wrap, we thank them, and leave.
We make it a few blocks away, and it occurs to me that there is a pretty solid chance that my sandwich has mayo on it, rendering it inedible for me. So I check it, and of course, smothered in mayo. So I then check the wrap, covered in ranch. The fries were trash when we got them, so those are out. And I look in the chili bag, and the onion in the portion cup looks questionable as hell, and the cheese in the cup looks to be moldy. Not a good sign, but I thought we'll if they put it on the side, I can still eat the chili.
At this point, we just give up bc this wendys is always a mess and not worth another 30 minutes.
We get home, my partner decides to try and power through the ranch in the wrap, despite the fact he is lactose intolerant. I pop open my chili, and that same shredded cheese has been already melted on top, so I have to assume that it was also mold-spotted prior to melting 🫠.
Every time I roll through there, I expect to see different employees, because it's so bad I assume at some point, there HAS to be staff turn over, but no. And ultimately if it sucks every time, it's my bad for continuing to try.
But learn from my review, save yourself the energy and time. If the staff literally is dripping in apathy and bothered by your presence (manager included), you have to assume they're also apathetic when it comes to cleanliness, sanitation and food safety.
Just keep driving there are too many other choices right...
Read moreOn May 28, 2024 at the Kailua Wendy's location about 5:30pm the Male employee at the counter was very rude and very unknowledgeable regarding customer pick up deliveries for door dash. He said we don't do door dash here.. He finally found the customers name in the computer and said, Oh I see it. Then he kept on referring to the pick up for delivery as a uber food pick up. He didn't know the difference between the to companies. He then said, we can't give you the food because uber has a balance. I contacted the customer to explain the situation and what the employee was saying.. The customer informed me that he had paid, $28.43. I told the customer that I would speak to the worker again. The male employee are the counter was yelling and saying that I needed to contact uber support for the balance not the customer. I informed him again that it was a door dash pick up for delivery and not uber. He said, its the same thing. I said, no its not, its two different companies. He said, it doesn't matter. We're not giving you the food to deliver and its not my problem. I tried to contact door dash regarding the situation but couldn't speak to a representative and was only able to have the app redirect the order to another driver since the employee obviously didn't like a older woman doing food deliveries and had NO respect for women. I'm sure if I were a big man that the employee was afraid of, he would of been physically afraid to act the way he did to me as a older women. I didn't get his name and can certainly identify him in person. I will never eat, order, deliver or do any sort of business at that kailua Wendy's location ever again period. Just a horrific...
Read moreThis Wendy’s is poorly ran. You have workers standing outside while there is a line in their drive thru area and they seem to not give any care. They mess every order they have and most of the employees are very rude and unfriendly and don’t like their job. Managers are highly unprofessional and they also give major attitude. Whoever is the general manager here is a poor one. He or she doesn’t know how to run this establishment. They always run out of things down to their lids. You know how many times I’ve come here and order medium or large and I can’t get one or the other because they ran out of lids and they ask would you like to do medium because we don’t have large lids like what am I suppose to do? Not have a lid? Night time is even worse. There’s only one manager on the floor while the morning you have so many. I can see why the night manager gets frustrated and yells at the crew because it’s happened in front of me and I don’t blame them. It’s a lot to run a store and manage it by yourself. I don’t think this location will last long. There’s so many wrongs...
