Highway 277 Cafe — Restaurant in Hawley

First reason for low rating is the smoke filled restaurant. I thought smoking was prohibited in restaurants in Texas now. Normally would have just walked out but needed to get hubby fed before a dental appointment. Second, over medium eggs ran all over the plate when cut into and yellow still cold. Third, you could not even soak it up with toast as the toast was drenched in butter! You could squeeze the butter by just touching the toast. On a positive note the bacon was crisp and thick and sausage was good. The hash browns were good but only enough for about three bites. The coffee was great would have liked real creamer but not a deal...

Loved it! Our waitress was so great! She started getting busy but not once forgot about us!!! Was even checking people out too! The food was DELISH and it came out FAST! So nice to go to a Cafe you can still smoke (I vape) in! Such a down home good cooking great company and great southern hospitality! We will return for sure!! Thank you! UPDATE: 2nd Visit. Love the service!! The food is great, grandma's kitchen food but if you want something tweaked not only will the waitresses do it a smile but the cook will make sure it's right!! When new, I ordered a chicken-fry & left 1/3 on the plate due to gristle. Immediately offered a replacement or different item. I said it was ok, I knew the risk. They said no.
