I arrived at Aperture bright and early for our soil series tasting on a typically crisp Sonoma morning. Despite being just off the main road, the tasting room seemed to transport us to a secluded countryside idyll.

The rows of vines, bright and leafy in this first blush of summer, were perfectly framed the mountains rising in the distance. Coming from the son of a famous photographer, I guess I’d expect nothing less.

Our hostess, Mackenzie, was so much fun. Despite only knowing us for a few minutes, she made an effort to tailor our tasting to our individual tastes and experiences. We talked about everything from the winemakers formative inspiration to climate change and the future of viticulture in the region.

The variety and versatility of the wines we tasted totally blew my mind. During our tasting we learned that the winemaker, Jesse, sees his work as an extension of the same storytelling and artistry he learned through his father.

Even as casual tasters, this sense of artistry was evident in every glass. Each wine we tasted was truly special, reflecting a sense of both place and time.

The wines, hospitality, and design at Aperture Cellars were all equally stunning. Despite its buzz and popularity, there wasn’t an ounce of pretension or snobbiness either. Just a true love of wine.

I’d recommend a visit to Aperture Cellars to any friend in a heartbeat, and can’t wait to return to explore the rest of their wines again...

My wife and I scheduled a tasting with Aperture and have nothing but great things to say. We aren't wine experts, and our experience was incredible.

The setting is amazing, it's fairly close to a main road but they're done a great job arranging your view and sightlines. The architecture, design and landscape architecture are all well done.

The wines are fantastic. The Chenin Blanc was surprisingly enough my wife and I's favorite.

Our host was Nicole, and she was also just incredible. We sat in the South Tasting Room (I think that was what they called it), and if I went back, I'd request that room.

Incredible service, setting, design, drink, and they make you feel like you're their only guest. Make sure you schedule at least two months in advance and...

I absolutely love this place for two reasons:

  1. Great wine with superb service. (We had Brendon as our knowledgable and kind host!)
  2. The ambiance of the entire place is modern yet comfy!

My boyfriend and I went here because I saw a Forbes article about this place. Forbes did not lie when they listed this place down as one of the "must-see wineries in Healdsburg". I love the architecture of the building, especially the patio area. It was so fun and comfortable to sit on the patio overlooking the vines with a glass of their amazing Chenin Blanc! One of the best red blends that I had from California is from this place (Bordeaux Red Blend)! On top of all that, the story about the winery is amazing! I can't wait...
