Hazel Hill — Restaurant in Healdsburg

Stayed at Montage for 2 nights and ate at Hazel Hill a total of 4 meals: 1 lunch, 1 dinner & 2 breakfasts so we had a lot of chances for them to get it right. They missed the mark at every meal. The good: -beautiful view and restaurant -friendly staff -focus on fresh, local ingredients. Some standouts like homemade jam. Food looked pretty. -breakfast foods were tasty and well prepared

The bad: -servers are inattentive for a restaurant at a hotel of this price point and caliber. Hard to get the check, more water, condiments etc. -food and coffee served were not hot enough. My husband's steak came cold at dinner. Sent it back and it came lukewarm the second time. Server gave some excuse about them needing to let it rest so it gets cooler. Coffee one morning was lukewarm. When we mentioned to the server she was upset and ran off and then we never saw her again. Gave up on getting regular coffee and got another server to get us a latte which was finally hot enough. server messed up our 20yr old bottle of wine we brought to dinner. Rushed into opening it without much thought, broke the cork and had to take it away to have someone help her get it strained. Thank goodness they waived the corkage fee. Why isn't there a sommelier? food was just ok. Nothing special. The prices are what you'd expect at a high end resort but the value just isn't there. Example - breakfast for 2 was $75-$90 which is pricey for 2 plates of eggs, toast, potatoes, breakfast meat and coffee. Overall this restaurant doesn't seem well managed and the food is just not at the level it should be for a 5-star resort. If we were to go back, we would likely eat in town which is about a...

We enjoyed a special, magical evening of a culinary masterpiece! Nestled within the serene ambiance of the Montage Healdsburg Resort, Hazel Hill offered an exceptional dining experience. We chose the Chef’s tasting menu which did not disappoint.

The setting is nothing short of breathtaking. A large, grand wedding was taking place during our dinner which provided quite the entertainment, including a violinists perched high in the vineyard. The restaurant is designed to maximize the natural beauty the environment, it is so well-done —in concert within the surroundings; expansive windows offering panoramic views of the rolling vineyards and oak-studded hills.

The service was exemplary, reflecting the high standards of the Montage brand. Rolando went above and beyond, and Sophia and complementary servers were impeccable! The staff is knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate. The pacing of the meal was perfect. The food celebrated the local bounty and the menu showcased the finest local ingredients. We LOVE Kendra!!! Her warmth, attention to detail, and infectious energy made the entire evening feel special. Grace was just as lovely—kind, attentive, and always a step ahead.

And then there’s Scott, the sommelier—a true master of his craft. His knowledge of wines and local varietals was unmatched. He guided us through perfect pairings with each course, offering thoughtful explanations and storytelling that added depth and meaning to every sip. Scott didn’t just pour wine—he elevated the entire experience.

The pork chops were tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The Wagyu looked next level. Desserts were beautifully plated and absolutely divine. And the cocktails? Next-level. Creative, balanced, and memorable.

Hazel Hill’s ambiance is stunning, inside and out. The views, the elegant design, the cozy blankets on the patio—it all creates the perfect wine country vibe.
