Weikel's Bakery — Restaurant in Hearne

I absolutely love this place! I’m going to know some workers, and they are absolutely so friendly. Every time I come down this way I make sure to stop there and grab the apple strudel as well as a few cinnamon rolls and Fruit kolaches. However, this evening at 7:17 PM , I dropped in as I normally do. Unfortunately, even though they don’t close until 8 o’clock, they had it closed off, and one of the employees was mopping the floor. They told us, as there were others, that the remaining bakery products were already put out on the little tiny end shelf. However, they still had the display of all of the larger packages(six packs of cinnamon rolls, etc.) but you couldn’t go in and get them since they were already cleaning the floor. I went into Weikel’s this morning and was in a hurry to get on the road so instead of waiting for a kolach I grabbed a pre-made sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit. When I checked out I thought $5.79 was a little high for a pre-made breakfast biscuit. Fresh and delicious food. I needed something quick that wasn't too heavy for the rest of my trip and the chicken salad did just the trick! It was very fresh and had large chunks of chicken. It was only $6, which I was surprised, expecting it to be a lot more. The cakes and kolaches are also fresh if that's the vibe you'd like instead.
