Outlaws Saloon — Restaurant in Heartland

What a fiasco. My husband and I had a nice evening at this establishment celebrating the holidays in the month of december, one night close to New Years. We enjoyed some drinks, played some pool, and sat down to play at the slot machines. This is when things got tricky. We lost some money on the slots and decided to quit while we were ahead. We go up to the bar and turn in our tickets for our payout and the bartender tells my husband we need to sign them and bring them back on a Tuesday when the lady who pays out for the machines is there to give us the money. Now this is $17 dollars we are talking about. We live in Tyler Texas which is 2 hours away. Luckily we head to Dallas about once a month or so, obviously we were busy for the holidays with out of town guests and things. So a Tuesday comes around when we know we can head back to the Dallas area, we decided to call ahead of time to make sure the lady would indeed be there on that Tuesday. The person working then proceeds to tell us we don’t have to come on a Tuesday we can come any day and just leave the tickets and then come back another time to receive the payout. That worked out better for us to come on a weekend so we came the following weekend. We met up with some family in Dallas for the weekend and brought our kids with us on the trip.. we stopped by Outlaw Saloon to drop off the tickets and the bartender didn’t know how the tickets worked and had to call someone else over... It happened to be the bartender that was working the original night we stopped in, she said she remembered us but wasn’t sure that the tickets could be paid out anymore. I asked her why and she said something about a time frame but wasn’t sure and asked me to leave them and would call me the next day. The next day she did call but proceeds to tell me that they only pay out tickets for up to 30 days. None of this information was posted anywhere near the machines. No signs about leaving tickets, a once a week payout, or any time frame they had to be left by, nor was any of this explained to us during all of our previous interactions about the tickets. THEN.... she starts mentioning that it was never going to be a cash payout it was only going to be concert tickets or some kind of other non-monetary prize. This was also never mentioned previously and no signs near the machines about “non cash payouts” either. My husband and I have played slots a few times at other establishments and haven’t had issues like this before. We were then told that maybe if the manager/owner ‘decided in our favor’ they could give us a couple drinks to compensate for the inconvenience. We really enjoyed this bar and the relaxed atmosphere and had already planned on returning again on one of our day trips to Dallas, however to this day, 2 weeks later we still haven’t received a phone call about the issue from the owner or anyone else. Just a frustrating turn of events, with no resolution. We have been patient and understanding and gone out of our way to get our money back based on their direction, but information keeps changing and it’s gotten ridiculous...

Love the bar staff and the place but whoever the DJ was needs to seriously read the room. You’re on TALTY TEXAS. Playing nothing but Rap and Hip Hop for almost 2 hours was insane. I don’t mind some beat and change in music. But 2 hours of it. WOW.

We’ve been going here for years and this was the worst time I’ve had. I even went up and asked for country again and apparently there were requests in front of mine. I wonder if it had something to do with the couple sitting right beside the DJ the entire time “requesting songs”….then to tell me “you don’t pay my paycheck so I’ll play what I want”.

We will be back because this is our local bar and hopefully that guy isn’t back. If he isn’t I’ll change to 5 stars. I don’t mind a good mix. I like all music. But against. TALTY TX. I also...

Was disappointed with this place, especially after seeing such a high rating... We tried to have a girls night out there, but left quickly. The first thing we heard as we walked in is that the restrooms were clean and that we would not be harassed 🤔 it was not convincing enough as my friend lost her cell phone signal right away and the guy sitting next to us was overly 'friendly'. On top of that, the entire place smells like smoke because there is no division for smoking vs non smoking, it's dark even during the day time, and the drinks were overcharged for what they had to offer. Definitely a place for a specific audience, but...
