Farmer's Inn Restaurant — Restaurant in Heath Township

I would have given 5 stars, however this will leave me room to improve the rating after my next visit, if there is another visit. I, along with family friends have been going here for many years, it isn't summer until you visit the Farmers Inn at least one time a summer! Over the years have grown fond of this place based on the genuine friendly staff. I have experienced the sweetest wait staff around the area, however it only takes in person to sour my fondness. Over this past week after a day spent in the forest, we went for dinner. As always a warm friendly wait staff, large portions and great tasting food. However, when we were prepared to leave, I generously tipped my waitress who has the kindest heart, in my rush to use the restroom before we leave, I gave money to the family to take care of the bill while I was in the restroom. When I came out my family was standing there waiting on me because in our rush didn't look at how much I handed them and thought I had given enough and was short. So I went to the cash register and had my wallet out and apologized and quickly explained what happened and of course I had the money....the cashier was angry the boys were short money and she was snippy and rude with me as I was handing over the remainder and she didn't seem interested in my apology nor did she even thank me.....we spent 120.00 in the restaurant plus a nice tip and she couldn't be bothered with why the mix up happened or even say thank you and visit again. Let's just say, it will be a long time or never before I eat a meal there again. I was embarrassed how she was acting and there were other customers coming and going. I hope it made her feel good to assume and also for me to assume she thought with the teenage boys with me, they were possibly trying to skip out in the bill or something, whatever the reason, it ruined my opinion of the restaurant. Yes folks, I'm old school...one time and I'm out, I'll drive further down the road to eat at...

So glad that they rebuilt after the fire, the mountain wouldn't be the same without it! The zoo, which has been there for years, is just awesome and gets better with age 🙂 The mini golf and driving range make for a nice break from camp and food and ice cream are always favorites. The only downside 🤬 are some employees attitudes, mainly Caroline/Carolyn in the zoo building/ old Mercantile store. She has been cantankerous for years, many families tell stories of nasty snips and lousy customer service. Well, I suffered her wraith this past holiday weekend. Upon paying to enter the zoo, she barked at me as I had an ice cream cone in hand - said not to push it down the feeding tubes, etc.. I replied quickly that I'd never.. she interrupted to finish her admonishing. Later after returning to the building after visiting the zoo, my daughter (15) and I were looking at the Guinea pigs in the lobby. My daughter was trying to pet a couple, they ran to my side so I tried to touch their backs 🙍🏼‍♀️ "PLEASE DON'T TRY TO PICK UP THE GUINEA PIGS" Caroline/lyn barked from behind me... 🤦‍♂️ I replied that I'd just leave as I obviously can't do anything right by her, and I went outside fuming... after a few seconds I went back to ask for her name. I told her that she is making a wonderful place just terrible with her attitude and barking at people. I said I'd been coming there since I was a child, I'm 41 now, and I hold the place in the highest regard, I'm not the troublemaker she is obviously looking for. I tell everyone about the place and to stop in, can't pass it myself each trip to my cabin with my family. I'd heard stories of bad experiences there, but until this past weekend, I guess I lucked out not to cross Caroline's path. I'll make sure in the future, to never do so again. Maybe a disguise...🤔 lol!...

Went with family to this beautiful place to eat. Was not disappointed one bit! I ordered the fish and chips, relatives ordered the round shrimp platter and the ham steak with mashed taters and gravy My gf ordered the Philly chipped beef sandwich!

My fish was piping hot and crispy on the outside without being tough or too hard of a crunch.. just perfect. And the fish itself tasted clean and fresh. Fish was cooked perfectly and flaked off easily with little effort. Not greasy either! Absolutely perfect ..I was never a fan of tarter sauce and I always eat fish n chips with malted vinegar- asked for malt vinegar and was just in heaven!:) tbh the fish was soo good by itself it really didn't need any sauce or vinegar. I just am a malt vinegar fiend soooooo... lol

I got a side of Coleslaw and I never get excited over coleslaw, but this coleslaw was just amazing. Very fresh and was definitely made with love! My entire dinner was just soo outstanding!!

Tried a small bite of the hamsteak. Just soo tasty.

The waitress and host were sweet and friendly and very helpful and paid attention us! Very professional also!

I will be eating here again! I give it a 10/10 on every thing, from food to cleanliness and fast courteous service!! Just a great place to eat. Also they have some extremely cute goats outside that you can feed and pet! Please visit Farmers Inn!! You...
