The Nicholson House Restaurant and Gift Shop — Restaurant in Hertford

My mom and I stopped by here very hungry after noticing this place along the way while helping a family member move. We weren't presentable in the slightest after all the lifting and sweat, but we were treated very kindly anyway. The waitress (I apologize I don't remember your name at the moment) is very helpful and knowledgable with the menu, customer service and sales. I was very happy and surprised to see vegetarian options. I had a veggie wrap and it tasted as if someone freshly picked it out of a garden. My mom had a buffalo wrap and placed a to go order as well with hamburger steak and I think pork. I know there were lima beans and plenty of sides to choose from as well. I absolutely LOVED the corn nuggets ... Amazing! We also shared a brownie sundae. (We were hungry and hadn't eaten all day. Don't judge. Lol). Anyway, we were all happy and everything was delicious and we all have very different pallets. I was happy to see that there are teas and tea party like options. I will be looking into that for another day. The gift shop is one of the prettiest gift shops I've ever seen. I loved the clothing, accessories, and home decor. The lady that ran the gift shop is very kind as well. The place itself looks very loved and well taken care of and my mom and I felt very comforted and welcomed being there. We will be coming back and bringing others...

I have been at the Nicholson House a few times and the food has been ok, not great but ok. The location is nice and thus far service has been fine. However, the one complaint I have about their service is that they are not willing to go an extra step to please a customer. I am a strong coffee drinker and I like my coffee strong hence, I have repeatedly requested they prepare just one pot of strong coffee for me and my guests, but they refuse to do so. I have stated to them that if cost is the issue for not granting my request that I'd be willing to pay for the extra coffee grain used to prepare the strong pot of coffee...still they refuse to do so. The last time I was there (Sept 23rd) I could only drink water because it was just too hard for me to drink in the morning watered down coffee. Once I left the Nicholson House on the 23rd I went to a different location to have just once cup of strong coffee. Because of this I don't believe I'll be going back with my friends because I'd rather go to a location willing to please customers, and if to please the customer entails pouring a little extra coffee in the brewing...

The food taste like frozen burgers and frozen meatloaf, the owner was rude and arrogant, the prices are way too high for the quality of the food, it’s way too loud in there and the boutique is highly overpriced! They actually sell dollar store sunglasses for $50 if that gives you any idea of what I’m talking about! I don’t recommend visiting this place at all if you haven’t yet. Not worth the money and definitely not friendly owners. Don’t waste your time or money, DEFINITELY NOT WORTH IT! The other reviews on here are from family members just trying to boost their business. I’m being 100% honest...
