J-Petal & Poke Hewitt — Restaurant in Hewitt

The staff has proven exceptional and helpful in the myriad of times I've visited: it's high time I left a review and told people about it.

What I first liked about this place is its location: nestled snugly in the midst of Hewitt Park, the post office, and the Hewitt Library, it's the perfect setting to get a snack after dropping off that package and picking up a book to curl up under a tree with--yes I know that's a very specific scenario, but don't act like you've never done it~

Secondly, like I mentioned before, I really love how professional everyone is. On my first visit, there was a slight problem with the tuna in my bowl, but I didn't want to trouble them into remaking it, so the gentleman insists on the next best thing: he gives me an entire ice cream cup FILLED with tuna! I was speechless and not expecting it, repeatedly asking if he was sure. I'm terrible with names but I know his face...

Next few visits don't have any problems at all, as the food is most lovely and I order for myself and my family on occasion.

But one night when my brother and I went to get some rolled ice cream minutes before closing (sorry!) we were informed that the lychee ice cream I'd longed to try wasn't prepared, they didn't have any so late, but did that stop them?

As I was debating on a new flavor to get, I was told that they could prepare the ice cream for me anyway and open another thing of lychee ice cream, and after a verbal ping-pong match of "are you sure?" "of course!" I had my gorgeous lychee ice cream (with real lychees on it, by the by!) adorned with amber-colored boba pearls on top.

I really love this place, and can't wait...

Update: STILL OBSESSED. I love you guys, thank you SO much for honoring my extras even though grubhub did us dirty. Please do not order from Grubhub! They will let you add extras stating +$2 per, but in actuality, the extra they charge you doesn’t go to the restaurant. So Grubhub is basically stealing because you’re not getting the extras you added to your order because on the restaurants end, you didn’t pay for it. So messed up. I’ll continue eating here always but won’t use Grubhub again.

I’m OBSESSED with this place. It’s literally perfect, the portions are awesome, it’s delicious. The staff are fantastic, friendly. The establishment is clean and decor is cute. I LOVE this place. Please bring one to Temple 😭😭😭 If I could eat my BYO California poke bowl (spicy tuna, spicy crab, edamame, cucumber, spicy mayo, ponzu, masago, avocado, sesame seeds, etc.) every day, I would. Not an exaggeration. I would go broke for this place. I absolutely love it....

Don't think I've ever said this about a restaurant before......but my only regret is that we haven't come sooner!! Our first 'Wow' was the superb service and attitude of Harley and her crew......top notch!! The food was the same! Delicious, healthy, fresh-made! Plenty of variety, including crepes, any topping you like! Clean, welcoming.....can't say enough good things.....and I've never done a restaurant review before, so you know we were impressed!! We are sooo coming back.....y'all should, too!! 😁

It's been too long!! My friend and I came back today, and I'm happy to report that they're consistently great in every way!! The food, the service, the cleanliness, the genuine friendliness and welcoming atmosphere by Harley and her crew continue to impress!! I hereby announce this is our favorite restaurant!! 😁
