The Snack Bar Ice Cream Shop LLC — Restaurant in High Point

We were looking for a treat to cool off after a long day, but instead walked into what felt like a heat trap.

The air conditioning was completely out. You can literally see the sweat on my face in the pictures I’m uploading, that wasn’t just from the weather, that was from the temperature inside the shop. When I asked the staff how long the A/C had been out, the response was, “three days.” That’s not just inconvenient, that’s a public health concern when you’re serving dairy.

I looked at the tubs of ice cream in the case, and several were scraped down to the bottom. I asked if they had more in the back. The young woman smiled and laughed like it was a joke. But I was dead serious, the barrels were low, and some of the ice cream looked like it had partially melted and refrozen. That’s not safe. That’s not sanitary. And it’s definitely not quality service.

A man eventually brought out a portable A/C unit, but it wasn’t hooked up right. Within minutes, water started leaking onto the floor. There were puddles near food storage and walking areas, that’s a slip hazard waiting to happen.

Despite all this, I still bought something just to give the place a chance. My husband said his ice cream was good, but I felt uneasy the whole time. If I get sick, I know exactly where it came from.

Be honest with your customers. If the air is out, say that. Put up a sign. Offer discounted items. Don’t act like everything’s fine. Between the high heat, questionable ice cream conditions, and water leaks, it was giving “undercover health inspection” vibes.

You’ve got cute decor and a solid menu, but none of that matters if the basics, air, cleanliness, and safe food storage, are missing.
