First ever visit and was really anticipating it. I purchased 3 bakery items. A blackberry pie for my son's birthday, a big tray of cinnamon rolls, and 2 chocolate covered creme sticks. The pie was the worst blackberry pie I've ever had. It smelled like, and tasted like fish. On top of that, there were hardly any blackberries in the filling...and there wasn't very much filling as it was. Strike 1. The cinnamon rolls...were coarse and void of cinnamon. They were crammed in a plastic tray that was too shallow and the icing, which was the best part, mostly stuck to the lid when opened. Strike 2. The creme sticks, the best of the 3 items, were maybe a 5-6/10. They weren't very soft, they were cut in half so the creme filling could be added, and i thought the chocolate icing tasted pretty generic. Strike 3. Read moreWe had the absolute pleasure of making the drive on Ohio 41 from US 52 north into Bainbridge. The drive alone would've been enough to make our day but then we found this bakery. The service was great, the people there were all friendly, and my favorite part were the ingredient labels: Flour, Barley Flour, eggs, sugar, milk, butter... didn't see any bizarre compounds whipped up in some lab by mad scientists. Simply things you grow, harvest, and bake in Nowhere. The drive was 3 hours one way, and if I have to take a month to walk back i will be on my way. WHAT AN AWESOME PLACE. Take it from a fat dude......
Read moreA local amish owned and operated cafe and bakery that is worth making a special trip for. They have great deli style sandwiches and reubens including the option for a homemade pretzel bun. Additionally they have loads of bakery goodies such as cookies, brownies, pies, specialty breads and much more. There is always a long line and a full parking lot on the weekends, but the line moves quick and is totally worth the wait. They have shaded and covered out door seating, but no formal indoor dining area to speak of. They do not have electricity or internet and as such are cash only, but there is an ATM down the road at the gas station. They have diesel powered reefer units for refrigeration so they do have cold beverages and amazingly...
