We were driving through the area in our camper, looking at real estate and decided we did not want to cook later. I first walked in to ask if dogs were allowed, I was told no. But as I walked out, I was then told about a back patio. I walked out to consider the patio but decided it was too cold. My partner took our dog back to the truck. I then walked in and was greeted by the same person who politely asked if I had chosen outside, I explained I would dine inside for two. There were only two, 2 person tables available. One next to a large party and the other not cleared, I then asked if the bar was available, was told yes. I sat down was delivered a food menu, I asked for the draft list and was then told she couldn't take my order and she would get another person. Understandably, sometime later, a woman approached told me she would be right with me and then proceeded to seat two other gentlemen who had simultaneously walked in as she approached. Instead of serving me and asking them to wait, she sat them and then got them a beer! She then came back to the area looking right at me and picked up the ringing phone. Instead of asking them to hold, she then asked Brian on the other line if he minded waiting an hour for what was going to be his phone order. I waited to see if she would say to him to please hold and at least take my drink order. Nope, and I left.
Additionally the Pocahontas Sheriff passed us as we drove into Hillsboro at least a few miles back, on the way out of Hillsboro the speed drastically dryops and then went up to 55, they had pulled over a person who had been clearly trapped.
Given the Sheriff's department patrols of the area, I highly doubt you should even have a cold one there.
Turns out the camp fire pizza was probably...

The building has been remodeled and it’s very fitting for the area. The pub has wall to wall shelving, decorated with Americana Nicknacks. They have a beautiful bar to pony up to and have a cold iced tea or you can bring your own alcoholic beverages as they have not received their liquor license yet. They have very nice enclosed patios in the front & back for outdoor seating. They have a little stage with a piano as well!
Whether you’re looking for an original blend of coffee or looking for a tasty meal this is this a great place to stop in Friday through Sunday.
We went with the wings, and The Kennison Run (Chicken Breast, Bacon, Chipotle Mayo, Cheese, Lettuce & Tomato. The wings were hand breaded, seriously one of the crispy, crunchy wings I’ve had in a while. Killer Wings. The sandwich was outstanding as well. They didn’t cheap out on the bun, which in my opinion is the most important part of the sandwich. I’ll be back in the fall when I visit Renick again.
If you’re heading down 219 through Hillsboro do yourself a favor and stop in to the Pub for some affordable fare that is prepped...
Read moreThe service was good, but everything else went downhill from there. I had the Big Dick’s burger. They don’t ask you how you want it cooked so it came out well done. Hottest temped burger I’ve ever had. It’s a good bun. The mushrooms and cheese are fine. I didn’t care for the garlic aioli and the burger wasn’t very flavorful. The fries taste off. Maybe something wrong with the oil (not a good frying oil, old/not clean, or maybe it was just too hot), and they’re overcooked and under seasoned. My wife had the meatballs. They were supposed to be cheese filled but we didn’t notice any cheese inside. The meatball itself was pretty basic and not flavorful. The marinara tasted homemade but again was under seasoned. The grilled garlic bread was good though. I wouldn’t have even left a review. The meal wasn’t noteworthy but it was unoffensive. However, I ordered a carrot cake to go and just tried it. The cake itself was incredibly salty. I can’t imagine they confused the salt and sugar, but something went very wrong there. Worst dessert I...
