I’ll qualify this review by saying that I was born and raised in the Bayou of Louisiana and my families business seafood, so I am more critical than most. But, these people are just rude. There was only one other person in the tent, other than me, but they were two workers. One worker voted over this man, you know when he was done she kept asking if she could do more. Meanwhile, I’m just looking around like does anybody gonna say hello? When I finally tried to ask a question of the worker who was not helping this man, I asked about blue crab and she scoffed, and said no one crabs when it’s this cold. Crab season is literally a winter season. And people don’t crab in the cold? I’ve never heard of such a thing. Shrimp was $17 a pound. Usually in coastal cities, fresh seafood is cheaper than the store. Except in Hilton head I guess. There are lots of restaurants that sell fresh seafood already cooked and it would be WAY cheaper than buying it and cooking it...
Read moreAsk yourself if a beautiful dining view is worth eating a less than exciting meal? If so, Benny’s is for you. Outside patio was very nice (again lovely view), server was lacking in attentiveness, menu offers a variety to accommodate fish and “meat” diners but nothing with cutting edge preparation. It was suggested to try the scallop dinner but $36 for 6 scallops on tiny mounds of farro is a bit rich for my wallet. My dining partner ordered the scallop appetizer and was less than impressed with the 3 tiny scallops on the plate. I selected the Swordfish dish but it was prepared with mahi because they didn’t have swordfish. The restaurant is new and will surely work out the kinks in the...
Read moreI had dinner last night at the brand new Benny's Coastal Kitchen at 175 Squire Pope Rd. The interior is just stunning with beautiful sweeping views of Skull Creek. It is staffed to it's gills and the food Chef Justin sent out of the kitchen was in every way delicious! Pricing is up to standard. The rooftop bar is not yet ready to be open but when it is, it will be even more stunning! I highly recommend our locals make a reservation now and get in before tourist season!! This is a a restaurant you will never forget!! Brendan Reilley and team, you outdid yourself...
