I live in Stockbridge but spent 10 days in Hinsdale when my hardwood floors were being finished. What a difference Hinsdale is to the busier Berkshire towns. More a local vibe and everything is priced accordingly. Which brings me to Ozzie's. Right at the corner of Main and Maple, it's open daily for breakfast and lunch and Thursdays through Saturdays for dinner. I had the pleasure of an old-fashioned diner breakfast for well under $10 one morning, and I stopped in on a Saturday night and had a turkey dinner for $13 and a GIANT calamari appetizer for 7 bucks. They take reservations so make 'em unless you don't mind sitting at the diner-style counter. The appetizer alone would have been enough it was so much food. Great food, great prices. Hinsdale is only five miles from the Allendale part of Pittsfield: It's an easy trek if you want something a little more small town New England, something more local than tourist. Something that doesn't gouge you pricing wise as has become the custom elsewhere in the Berkshires. Hinsdale, and Ozzie's, are worth the trip.

Amazing Food! Amazing customer service! Amazing Experience! Very Clean. Food was phenomenal. Not a long wait time. The waitress was lovely. Kept up with our drinks. Boxed our food. The price is definitely worth it. Big servings. Loved every bit of my experience in this place. I will definitely return when visiting again. Perfect way to end my vacation.

We've had breakfast here half a dozen times over the past year. It's a "just okay" experience and is fine if you are meeting friends for more of a social time than if you are expecting a quality food or attentive service experience.

First the good stuff: 1 - Very family-friendly atmosphere. Lots of families with kids and even infants can be found here on a weekend morning. 2 - Large off-street parking lot in back of the restaurant. 3 - Pleasant outdoor seating in summer months overlooking the river, forests, and fields.

Now some features that unfortunately lean more toward "meh:" 1 - The food is inconsistent from visit to visit, offering very simple flavors and ingredients that are standard "diner" fare and not very interesting -- and (for us at least) the food is not very carefully prepared, portioned, or presented about half of the time. 2 - There is almost zero awareness or care when it comes to food sensitivities or preferences, so don't expect to be heard in that regard. 3 - There can be "surprise additions" to the bill because the menu is not very clear. For example, I've ordered the same omelet twice, and on one occasion the hash browns were included (as it seems to indicate on the menu for that omelet) and on another visit that same omelet had a $3.50 upcharge for the same side of hash browns (and the server would not adjust this upcharge when we brought it to her attention). 4 - The portions can sometimes be a bit skimpy for the price. 5 - It can get pretty noisy inside the main dining area...so if you want more quiet, maybe choose a booth in the room opposite or sit outside. 6 - The servers seem to be hit-or-miss. You may get someone who is friendly, attentive, and on-the-ball, or you may get someone who doesn't know the menu, forgets half of your order, doesn't check in (or refill waters and coffee, etc.), and is a bit gruff. This doesn't seem to have anything to do with how busy things are on a given day...it's just the luck of the draw. 7 - Ozzie's doesn't take reservations. This means you could wait five minutes for a table on a weekend morning...or 50 minutes.

All-in-all we wouldn't choose to go here for the dining experience or the food, but we've enjoyed meeting friends here before heading out for a hike or...

First of all seated promptly, moderately busy. Wait person came and got our drink orders. Meanwhile , long trip from CT, used the facilities. Mom used the ladies, I slipped into the lockable one seater men's instead of waiting. Bathrooms spotless. Bodes well for cleanliness of kitchen. Restaurant also cutely decorated and spotless. No dirty utensils like seen now in many places. Wait person took our order. I ordered a rare burger, Jesse burger. She asked my choice of 2 breads. I don't like bread said whatever cheapest for u guys, won't eat the bread. She provided said burger and fixings on the plate, perfect. Burger outside medium rare but moist. As I got further in rare and the whole thing moist and tasty. Got side of tater tots, cooked perfectly, I added salt. I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch as did my party and definitely will return when in area visiting family. Thanks you for a...
