We just wanted to get a nice breakfast as a family, nothing fancy we got French toast and eggs. The service was subpar, we could audibly hear the waitresses cussing behind the counter within a few feet of us, and I suppose they were to busy arguing amongst themselves to give us any refills what's so ever. I even asked if I can get a water to go because I was so thirsty I guess they forgot that to, what I won't forget is how the bill was 65.00$ for a family of 3 to get breakfast. It's a problem but (That's not the problem) When it came time to pay at the counter suddenly the bill was 81$ my husband verified the amount on the receipt and said it was 65$ the waitress very loudly said sir that's the suggested tip amount.. he said I'm going to leave a tip but not a 16$ tip and she loudly started this whole deal about how she's gonna have to start the entire thing over and re ring everything in because he didn't want to leave 20% and drawing allot of attention to it with all the old timers watching. I was furious, like she literally gave her self a tip and tried to guilt him into leaving it as is like?? That's inappropriate her service sucked we will not be back. Also they need a sign that says self seating myself and others were stood in the doorway for ages until someone shouts to...
Read moreFirst off...this place is like permanently PACKED which is why when I saw it "semi" quiet we jumped. We were looking for an early lunch spot so we could be out of our house as we were expecting work to be done. Got there was so excited to see American chop Suey available! We both ordered soup...my husband LOVED the chowder (he is boring with descriptions, sorry) I had the chicken and rice soup. What I got was a thick soup that...was AH-Mazing and didn't need any extra salt (which I find happens too often these days) during our soups I got an emergency call from my sister stating her son (my oldest nephew) has broken down on 190 (popped a wheel). We are the closest contacts by 45 minutes. The waitress was kind enough to put our main order in "to go". I got the American Chop Suey and hubby ordered the Turkey Club. Ignore the fact how we ordered cause NO issues End of day...hubby LOVED his turkey club and fries. Didn't even have to warm up. Wth with the ACS?? I was fine eating it but there was some spice in it I just could not recognize...AT ALL. Would not order again. BUT we did finally go back two weeks later and had breakfast. I had the eggs Benedict with tomato. I will never eat another one again with out the tomato! Fabulous!...
Read moreExcellent "popeye omelette." Marbled rye and potatoes were good. Dad got chowder, chicken salad sandwich on sourdough, and onion rings. Superior service from our waitress, Molly. She kept our coffee full, and gave us just the right amount of attention. This is one of our "go to" places for brunch and lunch.
Back here again in January 2025. As always, this place is the best. Molly greeted us at the door with her smile and pointed us back to the tables, saying we could sit anywhere. We've been here often enough that they're starting to recognize us. We found a nice table near the windows. Our waitress today, also named Molly (!) was excellent. I love how the staff all works together. They all see what's needed at every table and take care of things right away. Dad had clam chowder and chicken salad sandwich, as usual. I got the 122 skillet and it was delicious and more than enough for brunch. We didn't have to ask for a box, as our waitress noticed and asked if we needed one. I'll finish my food at dinner time. I'm hoping we can visit here next week, one more time before I head back to California, and then again every time...
