Gaetano's Bakery — Restaurant in Holliston

Wow, I walked in here at 1pm on my Wife's birthday and said "I need a cake... for today." They could have been forgiven for laughing at my complete lack of preparation (I had a year to be ready, right?), but instead the conversation went like this... "Chocolate or Vanilla?", "Umm, her favorite is German Chocolate Cake?", "Ok, give me five minutes, 'Happy Birthday?'" ... I respond by blinking cluelessly for a moment ... "Her name, what's your wife's name?", "Oh, Lisa!", "Ok, give me five minutes." Sure enough, five minutes later the owner reappeared with a gorgeously decorated cake with "Happy Birthday Lisa" penned in icing on the top saying "Where else can you get a cake in five minutes?!?!" It proved to be an absolutely delicious cake in addition to being beautifully decorated. I will 100% be back --- with advance notice though -- in the future. Well...

AWFUL CAKES. One of the most overrated food place in metro-west area. Can't believe the reviews this place has. Went here twice. The first time I bought a birthday cake. It was probably the worst birthday cake I've ever had. Cake itself was INSANELY dry and flavorless and the frosting was disgustingly sweet. Like you eat two bites and your head hurts. It must be 95% sugar. 3/4 of the cake went uneaten at a get together because it was so inedible. It was not even fresh tasting. Literally every aspect of the cake was awful.

I went back thinking I likely got a bad cake since this place is so well reviewed. I got some canollis and a cupcake to test the theory. The canollis were actually pretty good, but a little different.

The cupcake was even worse than the previous experience. Offensively sweet frosting topping an even dryer and more flavorless cake....

I was working with a very nice young girl for 3 'gift bags' when an extremely rude man - most likely the owner /baker, intruded in the sale, while the girl was assisting me just fine. Then I was told by him to place my orders ahead of time because I would potentially be causing a line. Ya right, no one ahead of me, nor waiting behind me. Needless to say as I paying customer, the sale was lost. I walked out. In these hard trying times, you think a business owner would be more respectful, shame on him and future customers who tolerate any disgusting behavior like that. Please think twice before you support a business owner that behaves like this with customers. Can only imagine the abuse his employees may need...
