Black Lotus Tavern — Restaurant in Holton Township

What can I say about this place? The owners went above and beyond, allowing our friends to have a memorial for their recently departed son. They were beyond gracious! The staff was mostly friendly (not a fan of the short brown haired girl. As I came across her a few times smoking on a blunt & was rude when I asked her if she could take it away from the building). The new server was doing a great job with the crowd. She was polite, courteous, and always had a smile. The bartender was exceptional. She was handling herself, and the customers as if it were second nature. She was able to get everyone served rather quickly, for the amount of demand. Handled it like a champ. She stayed upbeat, worked fast, and went beyond to make sure the family of the departed, had everything they needed. Also, we all appreciate the sign she made for Jermie as well. My girlfriend and I made a reservation to watch Comedy Night. It started at 8:00 and our reservation was for 7:45. We got our food quickly and both enjoyed our meals. My girlfriend got a quesadilla and I got the beef wet burrito. The size of the meal was perfect. We were able to almost finish before the comedians took the stage.

The mix of comedians was great. I enjoyed all four of them. I have a lot of respect for people who go up there. Especially in a little place like Holton. All the comedians did crowd work but non it was over the top. I think all four comedians did a great job and I hope they do another comedy night in the future.

It's nice to go out and see quality entertainment without driving over a 45 minutes to GR or...

we visited a few times in the past with friends just for drinks, had never tried the menu.

this time we tried the menu. we ordered boneless wings, two styles, and a southwest chicken sandwich on grilled sourdough, it had fresh chopped Mexican hatch peppers in it. it was really really great. also the boneless wings were well sauced, crispy and they served us with plenty of celery and ranch. it's hard to find places around here who actually have celery / carrots with their wings.

draft list was local and seasonal. I enjoyed an Oktoberfest and an IPA. prices locally competitive!

but really the thin, crispy, seasoned fries stole the show. im looking forward to trying more of the menu.
