We stopped here by chance on our way down to Austin from Hot Springs, AR. It smelled amazing as soon as we walked in the door. We wanted to try all the meats so we got the 4 meat plate plus a side of sausages, that way we could try everything: pulled pork, ribs, brisket, and turkey. It was all delicious, but I was really impressed (and surprised) by how much I liked the turkey. That's not usually my favorite BBQ meat, but this was so tender and juicy, and had that perfect smoky flavor. The ribs were out of this world, and the meat just fell off the bone. The brisket melted in your mouth and the pulled pork was just as good. The plates come with three sides, so we tried the delicious southern creamy style cole slaw, the savory baked beans, and the best potato salad I've ever had. The folks who live in Hope, AR are lucky to have this fine establishment in their backyard. If we're ever in the area again, we're coming back! Do yourself a favor and try BigMac's Barbeeque. You'll be...
Read moreThis is about as much as I can star. Just before 530pm on a Sunday. We expected a wait, no big deal. What we got was ignored at the door. Told to sit at table 30, but not given any menus or even asked if we would like water, you know, basic restaurant 101 type stuff. Then 2 other parties show up get seated AND get handed menus. During all of that myself&my lady made direct eye contact with the man&woman running around and were never acknowledged by either of them from the initial "you can take table 30 in the back". So after being ignored and seeing other people get menus and starting the beginnings of ordering AFTER we came in was ALMOST the end. It was the chick, I can't call her a waitress, taking a selfie at the register after seating another table that did it for me.
So idk if the food is any good or not. We weren't meant to have any apparently. Atmosphere was interesting to look around as you wait for your food but isn't much for conversation of being...
Read moreCame to this place because of the stellar reviews. Biggest disappointment we've had in recent memory. Small portions.
Got a plate with brisket, turkey,Mac, okra, and slaw. Brisket was so firm I had to floss right after, and had no flop to it at all. You could hold a slice by one end and it'd stick out straight as a pencil. Bark appeared to be theresomewhat, but was unnoticeable upon tasting.
Turkey was dry, but peppered well with a very faint smoke.
Slaw was so sweet and creamy it was like eating a vanilla yogurt based coleslaw, no exaggeration 😅
Okra was fried perfectly, but unseasoned.
Mac was soupy and white, salted properly at least.
Anyway, we were PUMPED to come to a place like this, especially after reading reviews from other Texans who said it's better than what's further south, but we wouldn't recommend this experience to anyone, no matter what style of...
