Have just returned from a celebration of my wife’s 60th birthday at the Sunset Grill where 20 people gathered in the upstairs dining room for a private party that was spectacular in every way.
Even though everyone in the party came from outside the Village, the good people at the Sunset Grill made sure we had a no-hassle entry. From the moment we arrived at the restaurant for an early set-up until we were out the door headed home, our party was treated like old friends returning for a celebration. From tables full of wonderful appetizers (Ahi Tuna Nachos, Fried Green Tomatoes, Firecracker Shrimp, and Beer Cheese Dip with Warm Pretzel Sticks)- to enticing (and eclectic) entrée selections, everyone in the party was thrilled with the quality and quantity of the food options.
The staff was extraordinary. They worked hard to make sure glasses were never empty, food was delivered promptly, and every order was perfect…all done with smiles and friendly banter. They made sure the room was in order before the event started (even helped carry decorations from the car and set them up), they took care of every need when the party started, and they helped us break down the decorations and load them to leave after the event.
The view from the top floor of the restaurant is amazing! Will make it a point to return soon on a clear evening to enjoy the view from which the restaurant gets its name.
Thanks Sunset Grill for making a big night for my wife and friends nothing short...
Read moreQuality of produce in salad was excellent. Catfish is hard to mess up. Decent. Whoever manages this place should probably be fired. Last 2 times we were in they were out of a few products. This time it was a bunch. Ordered ranch with our salads. Server brought us the salads then informed us they were out of ranch. Odd but okay. Italian will be fine. Nope. Some cheese and oil thing. Nope. Friend ordered catfish with okra and red potatoes. Got potatoes and fries. He ordered a blue moon. Nope. Lastly we had ordered something to go for our daughter. Got the check and to go and had to ask for lemon and tartar sauce. So I said I’d take a tea to go since he was going back for the condiments. Got the condiments. Tea never happened. Overheard table next to us be told they didn’t have enough of something they ordered. If this was isolated incident I’d re visit. It’s not so I won’t. I’m guessing this place will be closed after the summer rush. I forgot to mention the bartender that grabbed olives out of a jar with his hands for my wife’s martini. (Previous visit). I do NOT recommend going there unless things change. If so, I’ll update...
Read moreOur first time here was nice. We sat outside so we could enjoy the sunset over the lake. We had the firecracker shrimp appetizer which was delicious. The shrimp was fried well and crispy, the sauce over them was delicious. You only get 6-8 shrimp, so it’s an appetizer for 2 people max. For entrees, my husband had the fried walleye with okra and sweet potatoes. He said his dinner was delicious. I had the Chardonnay chicken and it was an interesting meal. It had one of the oddest flavors I’ve had, not bad, but different. The portion size was smaller than the typical restaurant, but it was good because you don’t have leftovers.
Side note, the seating outside is tight if you are any larger than average. There are arms on the chair, so it squeezes if you’re a larger person. They should consider getting some chairs...
