My husband and I decided to take a little road trip down hwy 7 south. We decided it was time for lunch and ran across The Shack, a quaint little dinner right on hwy across from Jessieville School. When we entered we were greeted and told to sit where we liked and our server would be right there. She was there in a moment with menus and took our drink order. We had decided what we wanted pretty quickly and was ready to give our food order as soon as she returned with our drinks. We both ordered the Shack burger w/cheese and an order of onion rings. It didn't take too long to receive our meal. They were served wrapped in paper with the tooth pick on top and the onion rings were in the little paper trays; simple and no frills. It smelled delicious and when I took a bite it melted in my mouth. The lettuce, tomatoes, and onions were fresh and flavorful. The bun was dressed with mayo and mustard. The patty was fresh not frozen and you could tell was hand pressed. This is one of the best burgers I have ever eaten. The onion rings were crispy on the outside and tender and sweet in the center. Also one of the best onion rings I've ever had. The service was great and staff very friendly. The price was marginally higher than a fast food restaurant but well worth it. The only regret is that I was too full for desert. I see me and my husband driving the 50+ miles just to eat there again.

Remembered "The Shack" very fondly from 20+ years ago, and was anxious to get back ...... Wondering if it would live up the memories. Quick answer- It Did!!!!! Truly outstanding!!!!!! Tremendous cheeseburger - fresh cooked, good quality meat, so tasty. Best burger I've had in a long time. Fries were hit, crispy and delicious. Caramel shake thick and smooth with a great caramel flavor. Everything was freshly cooked but quickly- no excessive wait. Friendly helpful staff. The Prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food. It's almost impossible to get a 5 Star Review out of me, but "The Shack" earns one!!!!@ (The only downside- they don't take debit or credit cards ..... So bring Cash) Fine, fine example of the classic drive-in!!!!! Do NOT miss it if you're in the area!!!!!

Our first visit, and boy, did they deliver! Wonderful service, delicious food, and a cute little picnic table in the shade to enjoy our meal. Things to remember: BRING CASH!! They are cash or check only. Highlights: -The patty melt was truly phenomenal. Perhaps the best I've ever had. -The shakes are fantastic. Our pineapple shake was chock full of pineapple, and the peanut butter shake was also great.

Waitress was nice, we did sit for about 10 min before we were acknowledged but busy, maybe? I thought food was good, shakes were better. My issue was the workers were arguing, and just going back and forth, not very customer aware. Then a woman asked about the debit card thing and it not being accepted. I saw it when I came in amongst the other flyer things but not everyone is going to see it. Anyway, a worker from the back said in a tone that a bully would use, " it's on ever door and window, geesh". It is, but she didn't see it and asked a question, why not answer the question or not say anything at all, why be so ugly about it? The worker was in the peanut gallery, another one was the one being asked. I know the owners may not care about the loss of my business but to be in a small community with half the population only coming in summer and another large chunk are tourist, why would you allow your employees to behave this way? Iam not the only one, many other reviews say the same. Best of luck to your business but I...

Not a good experience. Was never welcomed by anyone despite three employees staring at me while I waited to see if I should sit myself. Decided to go sit down; twenty minutes later, even though the waitress had walked by multiple times, she finally asks if we had ordered. The staff seems like they are unhappy or something, they only greeted locals who they obviously new by name, everyone else seemed like a burden. We ordered, not a single pleasantry was spoken by the staff, not a thank you, will be out shortly… nothing…. took my order and walked away. Another couple enters and sits behind us…. They sit for twenty minutes before I see the man get up and walk straight to the waitress and ask for service…. She says she didn’t see them there… she had been by three times! What can I say, food was “ok” nothing special; service was atrocious…. They just don’t appear to care one way or another that your even there. It’s been 20 years since I was hear last, it will be 20 more...
