Rarely do I leave reviews, but SmokeRoom BBQ deserves the shout-out. As someone who work’s in the food and hospitality industry, I know how much a great review can mean, so here goes.

I stayed home sick this Easter, missing my family and all the traditional BBQ. Craving that classic comfort food, I started browsing for local spots that could fill the void. I’d seen SmokeRoom BBQ before on Uber Eats during a promo, but never gave it a real shot. This time, I read through the reviews a mixed bag, like most places, but I decided to give them a try.

I ordered the 3-meat plate with a side of ribs. Basically, I wanted it ALL and let me tell you, they delivered.

The turkey was lightly smoked, seasoned just right, and juicy. The sausage? Zero dryness, full of flavor. The ribs? FALL. OFF. THE. BONE. Total win. The brisket was incredibly moist honestly, some of the juiciest I’ve had though it leaned a bit salty for my personal taste. Still, the quality was undeniable.

Then I dug into the sides, and that’s when the nostalgia really hit. The potato salad transported me straight to the Easter celebration I was missing at home creamy, flavorful, and comforting in the best way. The beans? Just as good. Smoky, hearty, and cooked with love.

This gem is located in the Oakwood neighborhood, but very convenient to other nearby neighborhoods like mine (Yorkwood).

The atmosphere is not fancy, but the food is better than some nearby BBQ places with fancier decor. I'll gladly trade the log timbers and wagon wheels for a place that is more about food first and atmosphere second.

I got a three-meat platter with sausage, brisket and pulled pork. The sausage was good and the pulled pork even better, but the star was the moist, smoky brisket, with just the right fat/meat ratio and a nice bark on it.

The sides that I got were potato salad (the mustard type) and beans. The potatoes were good but the beans were a knockout. I'm a bean lover and the smoky, cumin-infused sauce was great.

Friendly service topped off the experience.

I expect this will easily become my go-to...

I've been to smokeroom twice since it has opened. The first time I got a chefs salad with chicken and I kid you not it was just chicken tomato and cucumber on lettuce. No cheese no onions and most importantly, no dressing. Since this was through Uber eats I decided to give them a second chance.

The second time I went to the location the manager and his assistant were just walking around watching the single cashier take orders, run food, answer the phone, answer all guest questions. The cashier who was a middle aged woman seemed over worked and stressed. I most likely will not return, Pappas is right down the street.
