Hooligans' Hideout — Restaurant in Howards Grove

Had the big steak sandwiches. Ordered the queen size but the waitress came back to tell us they had only the king size. It was the only thing on the menu that we would have ordered. Not many options for a Friday night fish fry. We could have left but we drove from Oshkosh to this place. Settled for the king size sandwich. It was ok. Nothing special about it. The service was not good at all. Seated quickly but waited and waited and waited for a waitress to even come to get us drinks. Got our order in. Waited a long time. There are not many tables there so the wait times do not really match up. Our drinks were empty until our food came out and we finally saw our waitress again. The waitress brought our bill and ran away quickly. I didnt even have time to ask for a to go box. (Yes we were still both charged for the king size sandwiches even though we wanted to order the queen. Not sure why they couldn't cut the king into a queen size but whatever.) We waited for the waitress to come back so we could pay our bill and I could get a to go box. She never came back. I walked to the front, holding my plate and my bill which I paid with cash. Our waitress was standing behind the counter area playing with her hair or something. She wasnt even the one that came up to take our payment or to get me a to go box. I still gave a full 20% tip but she didnt...

We had a party of 4 on Friday night. Had a couple old fashioneds at the bar initially. Old fashioned are muddled and excellent! Seating is first come, first served, so we grabbed a table that was set for two and the bus boy immediately got it set up for the four of us. That was the best and only service we received. We sat there for 20+ minutes while the two waitresses got other empty tables set up and visited other tables. No one ever came to our table or acknowledged us. We heard the waitress tell another table that they ran out of fish. A good sign that the fish is fresh. We ended up walking out and going somewhere else. This first experience was not good. We will give it another try but will wait a while to let the kinks...

Have eaten here a handful of times since they opened and food has been top notch every time! Went on a Friday and did not get the perch special but tried some from someone who did order it and was some of the best fish fry I have had. The burgers are my favorite and they have the best fries! and they don’t charge an arm and leg for their food. ...
