I'm giving this place 3 stars because it's not the worst I have ever had. My son and I went to eat here early on a Friday night, I was quite excited as I have heard good things. At first it was great we were seated right away in a booth, the atmosphere is cool and holds up to the name Log Cabin. Our server greeted us and got our drink order, then another server came over and started to talk to us because my son had a cast and she was really sweet. The menu is fairly decent sized so it did take us a few minutes to look it over and decide. The prices are very reasonable. My son went with there hand battered chicken tenders they were good, and I believe all there main dishes come with 3 sides. He chose the potatoes pancakes, grilled asparagus (it was the veggie of the day) and there American fries. All of that was pretty decent, but the American fries were lacking in flavor, they were cooked well but just not seasoned. I went with the Pot Roast, side salad, mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. I thought the mashed potatoes and asparagus were great! The Pot Roast was extremely salty. I tried to eat it, thinking maybe it was just me but I couldn't. This is when our service started to become off. After we got our food it was quite a few minutes before our server checked on us, I let her know about the Pot Roast and she let a manager know and she came over and was wonderful, offered me something else if I wanted even tho I had already ate the potatoes and asparagus, which I thought was nice. I declined as I was fairly full with the 3 sides lol. But then I ran to the ladies room, when I got back the check was on the table already the server never even asked if we were interested in dessert or anything and my son wanted one of there chocolate shakes. As we were waiting a good 15-20 mins as we weren't in any rush you could over hear a few of them( servers ) bad mouthing eachother behind the counter, and that's just not cool. Finally we ordered the shake and it was so so, he ordered the chocolate shake noe don't get me wrong it was huge for $3.45 and could definitely be split between 2 people, but it didn't fast like chocolate exept possibly a hint. But ok whatever lol. We waited again for our check a good bit. When it came back they did great and took off my meal which was nice since I ate the sides. But our server was lacking more than not. But I also noticed each of them have to make there own bar drinks which I believe makes them too busy to be as attentive as needed for there tables and not very fair to them. I believe this place needs a little meeting, they need a bartender so the servers can provide better service and from what we had they have to double check there food before it is served so it either has flavor and make sure that someone in the kitchen isn't looting salt lol!. I had to drink about 4 glasses of water just before we left and I didn't even say all of it. I would give this place another try and I hope that they can take the criticisms and possibly use them to...
Read moreWe have not been to the Log Cabin for a few years. We were excited to eat there again remembering the great broasted chicken we had last time. We were greeted and seated right away. The waitress brought menus and a small glass of water. My husband ordered a drink and I requested a glass of water with lemon. I was brought a slice of lemon to add to the small juice glass of water and my husband’s drink was hardly any booze and mostly seltzer. Not a good start. We both ordered the broasted chicken dinner, which was listed with choice of two sides, but really we only had one choice as broasted potatoes was already a choice made for us (no mashed potatoes as was listed as one one of the side choices) We both selected the salad as our only side choice which came with one packet of Ken’s Choice salad dressing. My husband also requested all dark meat preferably thighs, which we had done in the past with no problem. The waitress said the cook doesn’t typically honor this request but she would ask. The waitress came back with an answer that he would do all dark meat “this time but would not guarantee next time.” Again, not very positive. It took quite awhile to get our dinner and the place had only three other tables that came in after we were seated. The food finally came and the chicken and potatoes were so well done that as we cut into the potatoes we thought smoke would come out. The bill finally came and noticed that we were upcharged $4.00 for the “all dark meat” my husband ordered. My chicken was $14.00 and my husband’s was $18.00. Now we don’t have a problem paying extra for something requested, but we were never told that there would be an extra charge. We paid the bill and left the waitress a nice tip. We normally do not leave reviews, but this was the worst dinner we have ever had and especially at the Log Cabin. I did look at other recent reviews and noticed there were many unfavorable reviews, so apparently management needs to take a look at the service and food. Just one poor review should be taken seriously. I noticed that management did not address any of the poor reviews and only responded to the good reviews. We definitely will...
Read moreWe just happened on this place because we are traveling on highway 42 South instead of i-43. We were looking for a place to eat in Howards Grove and instead of continuing through town we took a right and like there it was. Rustic log building on the outside pretty cool and if you see the pictures the inside looks like an up north cabin, real cool.
Greeted when we walked in we were soon taken to a table. The walls are covered with various animal mounts and rustic cabin type artwork there is even two different canoes up in the rafters which look really neat.
The menu is quite extensive and there were three different types of soups on this Saturday and chili also.My wife and I looked over the menu and saw the heading comfort food. That caught our eye and we kind of gravitated towards the chicken fried steak. Some items on the menu sell with two different portion sizes so we decided to split a double portion of the chicken fried steak and for our sides we we got a salad and a bowl of chili. My wife also ordered the French onion soup.
As we were on the road I didn't want any alcoholic beverage so I got the lemonade which I think could have been a little more lemony but it was okay it wasn't too sweet. The food was really really tasty. Chicken fried steak patties we're quite large covered with white gravy. The salad and onion soup were great and so was the chili (although don't you agree that most places just can't serve the chili hot enough?) This was a very pleasant place to dine and I think the local folks would agree? Check this place out!
10/30/22 A nice return. The Sunday special was chicken and ribs. My wife and I split the special and got a salad and mashed potatoes with gravy. It was very good. I said maybe we'll have room for dessert and we did? We had the caramel...
