I had originally given 571 Grill a 5 star rating. I wish they still operated as a five star establishment. However my past two experience have been horrendous. The food is still great. The beer is still great. The service? Up there with the worst I have ever experienced.
They are unable to handle busy evenings in an efficient manner. They would do well to hire a designated host/hostess or at the very least explain to the food runner or busser that seating tables is a priority if you want to turn tables and your servers make money. They currently operate on a paper list, with a haphazard estimate on wait time. Most guests are pointed to the table without any staff walking them or providing menus. There are frequently 1-5 open tables at any given time because they have not figured out an efficient way to seat guests after tables have been fully bussed. I witnessed an employee tell another employee at least two time that a table was open and ready to be sat. That employee instead went to bus two more table rather than seating guests with 30+ people in the waiting area. Even my two year old child at this point has asked if we could sit down "in the open spot".
While waiting we stood at the bar for over ten minutes trying to order a beer. A regular was escorted in front of us to be cashed out, we were told by the bar tender that she would be right with us. Instead we witnessed her run food to two parties, check back in with regulars, asked several guests if they wanted water and finally returned after running another take out order.
Once we were pointed to our table and sat ourselves (how impersonal), we had to ask the food runner for drinks and menus, as we hadn't been greeted by our server. We saw our server a total of three times; once when ordering, once to check our food, and once after my spouse had gotten fed up with waiting to cash out and had to walk up to the bar to cash out.
I'd say this was an exceptionally busy night or try to make an excuse for them, but this is almost a copy and paste of the last time we were there. Even the bartender who had previously been one of the best and most attentive, personable servers I've ever had now appears complacent and does not offer anyone but regulars an acceptable level of service.
So if you want to go somewhere with no less than a 45 minute wait during which you can gawk at a plethora of empty tables and maybe get lucky enough to get bar staff to acknowledge you long enough to order a beer during your insufferable wait, this place is for you. If you're into having to asked for everything rather than your server properly greeting and checking in on you, this place is...
Read moreMy hubby and I had an errand to run near New Carlisle this evening and found the most delightful, eatery!! The 571 GRILL on State Route 571 just west of New Carlisle, or 8 miles East of Tipp City. We were welcomed at the door by our very friendly waitress and invited to sit where we liked, she offered a tip about the 17 beer/cider menu board on the large monitor with rotating Draft offerings! Nice selection of local and regional craft Brewers. We ordered from the Creative Burger menu, as we never looked past this section....next time!! My husband got the Haystack Burger which was incredible to see! About 9-10 inches tall, including a delicious burger, Gouda cheese, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, onions, jalepenos, pickles, fried onions straws - those were the items I noticed from across the table and I may have missed something. Couldn't believe he ate the whole thing!! And fresh cut french fries AND a 16 oz draft beer for $13, during 571's Thursday night Burger & a Beer Special. I ordered a crisp, tart, Black Widow Cider, apples and blackberries, for my Draft and The Vampire Stalker Burger, served on grilled garlic toast with garlic sauteed mushrooms & onions with a garlic aioli spread and a nice salad with a tasty Blu Cheese dressing. I added a slice of Gouda cheese to my burger, as well, no extra charge - what? It's like .30 at some burger joints - for a slice of plastic cheese, in my humble opinion. For a GREAT Burger, a nice, clean, friendly spot with good music, great prices and a wide variety of beers, and other potables, The 571 GRILL is a MUST TRY!! Apologies for my limited menu knowledge, I promise to read the whole menu on our...
Read moreFirst time here and a very pleasant experience. Located in New Carlisle it's just a short drive and a very nice local gathering spot. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This restaurant has a great selection of hamburgers and pizzas. We started with onion rings for an appetizer and we weren't disappointed. Hot and cooked perfectly with a delicate coating. However the standout here is the honey mustard sauce we ordered to dip them in. I thought I had tried all the variations of honey mustard possible. I was wrong. This sauce is a cut above all others. A perfect blend of both honey and mustard with other spices added. I suspect this is a homemade recipe. This sauce gets a solid 10 out of 10! My wife was very pleased with her salad. Fresh and crunchy without a ton of toppings that overpower the real taste of a good salad. We both ordered hamburgers. Mine was the Vampire Slayer. The garlic and the meat are the highlights here. Served on garlic bread it was hot and delicious. My wife had the Mac Daddy burger. Served on a fresh brioche bun came with Applewood smoked bacon, gouda Mac n cheese and BBQ sauce. She loved it! If you don't like your burgers cooked medium let them know. I had mine well done and it was superb. Juicy without any trace of being burnt. My fries were piping hot and very good. There is a comfortable bar area with a vast selection of brews available. If you haven't visited here, I highly recommend you make the short drive to treat yourself to a great local hometown...
