Blacksmith Lounge & Broaster — Restaurant in Hugo

I went to the Blacksmith Lounge for lunch while doing a move in Hugo Minnesota. At the reference of my customer. From the outside looks like a bar you could get in a fight in , from the inside it looks like a friendly neighborhood bar / restaurant. The waitress came over and was prompt in filling our drink order. Unfortunately she spilled an entire drink in one of my workers lap. Funny to us not to him. The waitress was also surprise that that happened. to our bewilderment she did not say sorry. I personally think it was because she was in shock that she had done that. A few jokes were made then we got our food. We all ordered burgers and the burgers were spectacular. As a mover I go out to eat in the afternoons quite a bit and this is one of the best burgers that I have had in the greater Twin Cities area, the food is really good. But when the bill came I was quite surprised to see there was no consideration for the spilled soda pop all over my worker. I mean the waitress was pleasant and all but she just didn't address that whatsoever. As I went up to the bartender to pay my bill I told her about it I thought at least they would take off the soda. the bartender took my bill as I tried to hand her my card she wouldn't charge it. She went above and beyond by zeroing out our entire bill. I was only expecting a soda pop not to be charged. I placed a 5 buck tip for the watress A girl is allowed to have a bad day every now and then ya know. So with the way that they handled the incident and with a spectacular food I would be proud to tell my family and friends to go eat there. It is a good place from the perspective of my experience. Seeing that this place was highly rated and we were close to Hugo MN, we decided to give it a try. We had a twenty minute wait before being seated and were able to take a look around and could see this place had the Nostalgic old barn look and feel. They had one beer on tap Coors, which was close to my youthful drink (Coors Light) it was smooth and a little flat but I had two. I asked the waitress what the thought was between the shrimp dinner and the pork ribs and she stated a lot of people come in for the ribs, so I ordered them. It took about twenty five minutes to get our food. First was our salads, my wife had a house and I had coleslaw the salad had goldfish crackers for croutons, which may be a go-to for me from now on. And they brought my slaw as well… didn’t expect it separately but it was good. The ribs came a little bit later and I could see that it appeared the bones were set on top of the meat and bbq sauce poured over the top. There was zero meat on the bones some like it this way, but isn’t that part of having ribs, eating it off the bones? Meat was super tender (which is better than tough) but thay were good/alright. Baked potato was small but good, as was the bread. My wife had the ground round steak (hamburger patty) she said it was alright/good as well. The place was busy, and understaffed, which makes the greeters and servers not as friendly as I’d expect with a small western venue. Nobody smiled… even once. If you like the actual rustic barn feel and ok with a place that needs some TLC money put back into the business then this place may be for you. !!! DISRESPECTFUL ATTITUDE FROM BARTENDER !!!! Don't come to this place!!! if you do be aware you could be screamed at and told to never come back here by this woman bartender in front of everyone that is there drinking. She speaks before she thinks.

The bar tender this morning was just completely rude, mad and was so disrespectful to me when I tried to cash a check . She screamed at me in front of everyone in the bar and said buy a drink or tip me or get out and don't come back. The entire bar full of customers turned and started at me like wow you really did something really bad to make her so angry. I was being polite to her the entire time I was at the bar waiting patiently to cash a check from the scrap yard down the road. I have never been so disrespected in front of so many people ever and this behavior towards me was completely uncalled for and I will never come back to the blacksmith lounge in Hugo Mn and I will pass the word around to everyone I know not to visit this bar restaurant due to the female bar tender that was working today. I cannot express how angry and disrespectful she was towards me in front of at least 20 other people there drinking today. This woman needs to be fired immediately for her behavior. I am extremely shocked and mad about this and I would never even think about giving her a tip or ordering a beer or drink after this experience today at 12.00 noon today.
