Wanting to take my nieces on an adventure day, The Grain House was recommended to us by a friend, so we looked forward all week to visiting on Saturday. We got there at 12:50PM to be greeted by a paper sign that said they were closing at 1PM (lesson #1: call ahead to check the hours even if Google says they are open until 2). This place is adorable, and I wish we would have had more time to explore! We placed our order “to go” not knowing how long the dining area would be open. Everything on the menu looked delish, so we finally settled on turkey croissant sandwiches for the girls, and plain chicken salad for me along with drinks. I asked for an iced tea, and the server recommended the raspberry one. I told her I couldn’t have the sugary syrup, so my drink ended-up being a tea bag in cold water. It never seemed to become iced tea like a brewed tea would have. (Lesson #2- ask if iced tea is actually brewed). We sat down to wait for our food and drinks, and the waitresses seemed very confused in the delivery of our food- and we had a different server each time a drink or food was ready. (Not sure what that bit of crazy was about.) Despite the odd randomness I described, most of the staff was friendly, our sandwiches tasted wonderful, the chips were so yum, and the girls loved their beverages. 😋 This place will get a second visit next time I am in this area of the USA.

As someone who frequents independently owned coffee shops, I HIGHLY recommend this place. I've been coming to Boyden, Iowa for years for business, and just found this place today. I don't know how long it's been here, but it will now become a new must stop when in town. The almond croissant is sensational. Smooth coffee and espresso, everything pumpkin is addicting, and I had the turkey croissant for lunch which was fantastic. Nice work Grain House. This place gets it right.

Super friendly staff, great drinks, in a super chill atmosphere. The quality of the coffee is superb, but I must say that I love the white chocolate hot cocoa. They also have Carmel buns, donuts and mini cupcakes. Solid Wi-Fi as well. Great place to hang with friends or to do homework.

Beautiful space, polite and friendly staff. The guest wifi was down and I was driven out by flies. They gave me a fly swatter and I realize this is August in Iowa but there were a LOT of flies. Highly suggest fogging the space every night until they are gone or hide a fly strip somewhere inconspicuous. I was hoping to work from the space for several hours but left after an hour because I couldn't take...
