Heck's Bar — Restaurant in Hume Township

An absolute must see. A relic gem of years bygone. Rightfully named “The Center of the Universe.” Robert Heck is a second generation bartender extraordinaire. Seventy years in the restaurant business means something people.

A time capsule of the nineteen seventies. The decor has never changed but amazing modern beer and cocktail selections abound. Be sure not to skip extra cheese on the best hamburger you have ever had in your life. Get the Velveeta and have no regrets or food envy. No elevated uppity food in here just perfectly prepared classics.

Small town locals and out-of-owners intermingle to the sounds of the juke box. Pool table, claw machine. Kid friendly, casual atmosphere. Centrally located between Caseville and Port Austin. Five minutes off the beach highway.

Came in late on a Friday a couple weeks ago.(we did call ahead to see when the kitchen closed, I hate being those people ;) This was the go to bar for my father in law to take my husband when they used to go hunting. So it had been a handful (or two hands) of years since he has been up there. I was very excited to see a place he had some good memories as a child at. I wasn't let down on the food, drinks or people here! The burger and perch where awesome, beers where cold, and the people where warm and super friendly. I think the cook was more then just the cook because of the time I saw him take with the patrons of the bar. I love when people take time just to chat and have a laugh with their customers! I can't wait for another trip...

Atmosphere is as enjoyable as always. It's a typical HuCo bar... I just wasn't a fan of the Heckleburger this time. Service took a little while longer than I would have liked but the owner noticed and stepped in. I average at least one or two orders per year from Hecks and never had a complaint. Everything has been in order in the past... There was just too much grease dripping off my burger and I could only eat half... I left the rest on the table. My parchment paper was soaked... it didn't look like any of the pictures posted by...
