One poor experience can ruin several fantastic ones. The food quality is superb, you will not find yourself disappointed with the ingredients, flavors, portions, or selection. Atmosphere is as the name suggests, comfortable. Similar feeling to an old inn. My original review was going to reflect our great experiences in length. Unfortunately, our last trip to Comfort Kitchen will be the last, indefinitely. I have several food allergies that, luckily do not present with anaphylaxis, emerge as horrible, itchy, weeping eczema and hive reactions on my face, neck, and elsewhere. These areas can be seen plainly and cause me great distress as it can become disfiguring when my trigger foods are consumed, not simply terribly uncomfortable to boot. I am very careful about restaurant orders, I screen for foods likely to contain triggers and then completely avoid them, I ask questions about remaining options, I triple state the impact the trigger ingredients can have, I often get visited by the chef themselves! Comfort Kitchen has one staff member who has been meticulous about ensuring I will not consume foods I know to be triggers. We decided to take the whole family out to Comfort Kitchen for one of the children's birthdays. Being a family of 5, this is a large bill under best circumstances. Upon our original order, I did my usual routine to make our server, a different one than usual, very much aware of my limitations. I asked my questions, server took notes, server visited the kitchen twice to inquire about ingredients. Long story short, not only was my alternative vegetable order wrong and containing a stated trigger food, but my food was COVERED in a stated trigger food. I alerted the server, and I try to remain very apologetic because these allergies truly are absurd and not their fault! My plate had two of the three items upon it completely replaced by kitchen staff, and the third item was altered to allow me to consume it, so I thought. As I began to eat the main entree, the one that had already been taken to the kitchen to be alleviated of its hives-producing ingredient, I began to slowly realize with horror that the entire coating on the entree was MADE with the trigger ingredient. The very same ingredient that the server wrote notes on, asked kitchen staff about, returned the plate to have it removed from other items, was literally cooked INTO the food. We alerted our server of what had happened, but did not receive even a hint of an apology, an offer to remove it from the bill, and/or we certainly didn't hear from the kitchen staff. I did not have her discard the dish, as my husband was happy to take the leftovers to work, as he can eat it. In entirety, I ate one roll with butter and a diet coke for dinner, plus the three pieces I ate of my entree. I didn't even try a dessert, as all the options that evening had nuts or ice cream. That night I broke out in a rash from those three little pieces of food containing a trigger. I am terribly disappointed, but I will not risk my health and happiness by continuing...
Read moreMy family has tried Comfort Kitchen 4 times.
The first time the food was good, everything was timely.
The last three times not so much.
The first of those three times service and food was horribly slow for a lunch. I'm not usually one to complain but for two sandwiches and a chicken appetizer for my son it was 25+ minutes and there was 2-3 other tables.
We took a break for awhile.
We revisited again a few months ago for dinner.
We were never offered rolls and we saw another table get them. Food seemed extremely slow again between appetizer and entree.
It was decent food so that made up for it.
We visited again this morning for brunch.
1 burger plain, fries, well 1 breakfast sandwich, homefires 1 breakfast burger medium with fries
Let's not even mention the 5-6 homefries you get for an order.
We knew our server wrote down no cheese, egg/bacon jam on side for our sons burger, and it came out with cheese on it we had to pick off.
This was after a 24 minute wait.
A large table came in after us and there was maybe a couple at the bar and another table. If we had been after the large party I'd understand.
So we're done spending our money here, no time has been without issue and it's a shame because I wanted to try the brunch since Hunt and Hart closed.
It's a shame because the food has been pretty good each time but will they need help in the kitchen or there's a timing issue somewhere in their system.
Hope they...
Read moreWhat a wonderful little find ! The restaurant was lovely and homey . The ambiance was relaxing boasting lovely old photos of the quaint town of Huntington. We had ordered from the brunch menu . I must add the brunch menu checked every single want box . We had the brunch burger that was made with delicious Chuck . They have another made with Angus Chuck as well . This came with home fried potatoes that were cooked to perfection . The bacon jam and special sauce gave the burger a delightful taste . The bun absolutely perfect for the size of the burger . The bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich on golden toasted white bread was filled with an ample amount of bacon . It melted in your mouth ! The chef should be congratulated on his or hers culinary skills! Our waitress Melissa had possessed every skill to make your dining experience a pleasure. She was attentive but not intrusive. We when we fly into town again will make it a point to go to the Comfort Kitchen . If we could give it more...
