We've lived in Meridianville for a while but never swung by Posey' before - we decided to change that today!
A lot of reviews refer to this place as having a buffet, but that isn't technically correct - they have a food bar but limit you to one plate/visit. It is very clear on the menu and my wife confirmed this with a server. Everywhere we looked there seemed to be people doing multiple trips so that was kind of weird. It was very hot inside - not sure if the AC was on the fritz or they were just catering to the older crowd but everyone in my party commented on it.
Wife and kids got the food bar and I ordered a club sandwich off the menu. They serve Pepsi products here.
My wife was pretty happy that they had turkey, fried chicken and ham available plus a lot of the usual southern food sides available (rolls, corn, green beans, cornbread, stuffing, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes etc). They want everyone visiting the food bar to wear gloves while serving food which is weird but I'm fine with that.
There was one server for our entire side of the restaurant and I feel like she did a good job and was hustling- she served food poured drinks and bussed tables.
The food... the food was below average. Just going to be honest here. The fried chicken had a very good breading that was pretty salty. The rest of the food was extremely bland and lacked flavor. All of the negative reviews for this restaurant usually point this out. They have a very loyal crowd of regulars it seems, but the food was bland. The mashed potatoes was bland and was the consistency of powdered potatoes. Idahoan instant mashed potatoes beat these easily. Mac n cheese was ho-hum, turkey was bland, etc. The corn bread is the unsweetened variety that is super dry. Honestly the only good thing we had was the fried chicken.
My club was OK. They had a lot of meat in it, but the meat was hot which was unexpected. It looked good and had bacon which was nice, just tasted plain to me.
I will probably come back and give it another shot someday, but honestly it feels like mostly institutional food in a hot restaurant...
Read moreWorst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Came in less than 20 min ago got a carry out and was excited because I had been craving the food since yesterday. I paid for my carry out and started to leave, on the way out my peach cobbler felled out of my bag on the ground. I went back in and asked if I could get another one, due to my first one hitting the ground. They asked the manager and the manger said I had to pay for another due to it being a non buffet item. (Woah it was a buffet item I dropped it) I payed for another one and was told I was not allowed to fix my own they had to fix it in the back. I’m ashamed and confused at this point but I waited because I really wanted my peach cobbler. The young lady came out after around 5 mins with it did not make eye contact just pushed it in my hand and it hit the floor. I’m about in tears at this point and hurt because I don’t understand why I’m being treated this way. I took my food and went to my car looked up and said whatever lesson this was for today God I don’t understand it but I know you will let me know. I brought my food home and gave it to my son. (I did just pay over 17 dollars for the food.) Long story short I will not go back but I do send the restaurant many blessings. And thank you to the nice couple that got the peach cobbler off the ground for me and the lady that stood up for me about being charged again. It is still good people in this world. I’m sorry if my writing is all over the place I’m still hurt and trying to understand...
Read moreLook at the carpet separating look how nasty it is they hired the youngest people at the lowest price half of them don't know how to take orders. chicken bin was full no chicken wings in it all chicken on top was cold. the owner comes out and takes the temperature of the chicken comes and tells me he stuck two pieces 1@ 144 and 1 @ 145 told him I would tell the health department he says they were just there well they might be there when they just put out the food but once it sets are 45 minutes to an hour you don't get hot food talk to the owner I know them by name . but I will not say it check for yourself anyone knows the closer you get to the bottom of the buffet pan the water level is hotter they might have a good health rating possible higher or a grandfather claws I guess. or the health department just don't care like I said look at the carpet go to the website it says under $10 but it's $10 Plus. not only that when Hazel Green family restaurant was in business they slander that business and talk about their Decor. then better than that who in the hell eats the decor( owner) you will never get another Penny from me my family or anyone else I can convince not to eat there take your sorted bag of chicken hanging around your neck and you eat it raw.
