I had previously reviewed this restaurant, however my recent visits there have made me reconsider my previous 5-star rating - and I am now reducing this to a 2-star rating. My comments below are based on my most recent 4 visits, all of which have occurred during breakfast hours and on breakfast food, and all of which under the new/current ownership.
--The Good-- The service and waitstaff are very prompt, polite, and for the most part effective. Portions are large for the price (which is pretty good), bordering on "too large" if there is such a thing.
--The Bad-- As I said above, I've only ordered breakfast food there. My below critical comments are related to the breakfast food only When you order a skillet or a breakfast special, and the menu says home fries, what I am expecting is "chunks" of potato - like a cut potato wedge. Instead, all four times, what has been served are hash browns - shredded potatoes. I have questioned this twice, and both times been told "those are our home fries." Those are not home fries, those are hash browns. The hash browns are bad. They're mushy to almost mashed potato consistency in the middle, and overly wet. You've got crisp on the outside, but it seems like they're being cooked too hot to be as they are in the middle. I'm sorry to be so blunt, but the sausage gravy is just bad. It's watery, sweet (it shouldn't be anything approaching sweet at all), not nearly peppery enough, and lacking the substantial body that a milk gravy should have. I suspect that you get this in a bag from a vendor pre-made, in which case I'd ask you just make it from scratch. Milk gravy is super easy and quick to make, and NOTHING beats fresh sausage gravy. At least change your vendor and get one that isn't sweet. Sugar has no place in that kind of gravy. I always order my eggs over-easy, and don't complain if they're over-medium. But twice now I've ordered over-easy and received over-hard eggs. Both times I pointed it out and it was corrected, but both times it was corrected I received back over-medium. I know it's a giant flat-top griddle and I'm not expecting perfect over-easy eggs, but I want the yolks to run. The pancakes are too chewy and dense. Maybe over-beating the batter is kind of what it feels like to me.
I don't feel I'm being overly picky here, and a lot of what I find undesirable can be corrected with a bit more time investment in the...
Read moreIf I could give this negative Stars I would! Me and my fiance came early this afternoon to this establishment and ordered New York strip steak, eggs, and hash browns ,biscuits / gravy with eggs and toast... The only thing that was remotely hot was the coffee and the coffee tasted burnt like it had been sitting on a warmer all morning. The steak was supposed to be medium and we got it back rare with almost no grill marks, and on top of being a "luke warm " steak, the meat itself had an almost gray ish light brown look to the whole thing ! Our toast was cool to the touch and the butter was not even all the way melted not even on One Piece, the gravy was sweet ,watery and Bland like it was lacking almost every ingredient that should be a "no-brainer for any cook ,even a novice ,it lacked everything that biscuits and gravy are supposed to have. The food tasted horrible was was not even remotely warm neither one of the dishes. When we called the waitress over and explained in a very professional and polite way that none of our food was warm and that we did not want to eat it ,she copped an attitude very quickly and said I don't know I have to talk to the manager as if we were lying or trying to scam a free meal. Five minutes later after getting frustrated because nobody's even came to say anything, the manager came over to us and wanted to argue with us that we were lying about our food being not warm enough, she offered us something else and when we said no, she was very rude and when she picked up our plates she said "oh well the plate still feel warm to me " in a very rude and condescending manner! we got up and left and we will never return to this establishment again! If I were you and you're reading this I would take this honest opinion and review and heed to the advice - don't waste your time, money or...
Read moreWe stopped there because every other fish place was jam packed.(friday during Lent) My husband said he had eaten breakfast there before and it was good. We sat down, as it was "seat yourself". It took awhile for someone to come to our table. Waitress was friendly but seemed busy, as she was checking people out, checking out takeout orders, waiting tables etc. I asked for water with lemon, was only given water. We got fish and chips, which was pretty good. My salad was lettuce on a plate with 1 slice of tomato and a very different tasting ranch dressing, not bad, but not what I consider restaurant ranch. We asked for extra tarter sauce, but never got it. Waitress never even remembered that she forgot to give us some. Waitress was nice, but with her tables she had was overwhelmed. (I believe there were 5 tables she was waiting on) It seems she spent alot of time at the cash register figuring it out. At one point the cook? owner? came out and asked us what kind of pie we wanted as its included in the meal. We didnt want any so my husband paid and we left. Would I...
