I was very disappointed when I walked into this restaurant. The server was extremely rude from the very beginning. I showed up with a group of adults and our children. We were planning to sit outside and knew that they had activities for the children so we thought it would be a good family vibe if we sat outdoors. The waitress immediately made assumptions on how our children were going to "mis behave" before she even gave us a chance to sit down. She then proceeded to parent them and tell them what to do in a very belittling way assuming that our kids were not going to be polite and well mannered. She made us all feel very unwelcomed and kept telling our kids they needed to be quiet when they weren't even being loud. I definitely do not appreciate her over reach and shaming our children as if she was their parent and even over reached us parents. she treated them as if they were her kids and micro managed them playing with the blocks outside. she would come out and tell the kids to clean up their blocks while they were still playing and waiting for their food. She would continue to come outside and tell the children what to do and how to play with each other. Now mind you our children were being very well behaved and in their natural state. Yes they were laughing and having fun. If we wanted to go somewhere where we couldn't talk and laugh we would have went to a library. After she brought the food out she continued to belittle our kids and tell them they couldn't eat the meal she brought out. She shamed our kids the whole time we were there. If you don't want families coming here with their kids then don't provide toys and crayons and make us feel unwelcomed! Write on your website not kid friendly or maybe get some new staff that make children feel welcomed instead of dis respectfully trying to overreach your position. It is NOT okay for a waitress to over step the parent's role especially when the kids were well mannered. This waitress Mo was so disrespectful and cleary should not be around children. It is scary to think that she is a substitute teacher. It is very unfortunate this was our first time here. I will not be returning and i hope mo will be talked to by management! The food was good but the ice cream was def very icy not how ice cream...
Read morePeaceful Belly isnât just a place to go eat â itâs a whole farm to fork experience! And a memorable one, too.
Located in the beautiful Sunnyslope Wine Trail of Idaho, Peaceful Belly is the perfect stop after an afternoon of tastings. While it wasnât busy when my husband and I arrived for our 2:30pm reservation, I would still recommend making reservations which can be done through their website or through OpenTable.
We began our visit with flights of their highly-acclaimed Stack Rock Cider (choice of 4 drinks, $8.00/flight). Our server was kind enough to throw in another 2 so we could test the entire menu. Both of us agreed the best one is the Skinny Dippinâ. Itâs the perfect blend of sweet basil and tart lemon â we couldnât leave without bringing home a bottle! If youâre not a cider fan, they do offer wine from the surrounding wineries.
We were informed the menu changes weekly and follows the seasons. Thereâs lots of vegetarian options, but also some meat dishes. Itâs obvious that a lot of thought goes into each dish as theyâre all very unique. I chose the Eggplant Parmesan Flatbread (house made flatbread, breaded eggplant, basil, Parmesan, mozzarella, house made tomato sauce, $17.00) and it was absolutely exquisite! The roasted tomato was deliciously sweet and reminded me of peaches, I think? The tomato sauce was wonderfully seasoned and burst with flavor, better than anything you can buy at the store. My husband ordered Ratatouille (cherry tomatoes, zucchini served on âsoccaâ (garbanzo bean) pancakes with eggplant spread and fresh herbs). He loved the fresh dill on top of the perfectly cooked vegetables, which paired amazingly with the cakes. This dish had great flavor and was cooked to perfection as well.
We couldnât leave without trying the Peach Pie, which is literally a mini pie filled with sweet peaches in the most delicious crust Iâd ever eaten topped with Madagascar Bourbon vanilla (IYKYK) whipped cream ($12.00). It was SO good.
To top off our wonderful time, we bought a vase and for $12.00 we were able to create a beautiful bouquets. I had a blast choosing from so many flowers!
Iâm really looking forward to my next visit to Peaceful Belly. This is an absolute GEM. Itâs worth the drive, itâs worth all your time. Donât...
Read moreI signed up for a half share of Peaceful Belly Farm's CSA this year (2014) based on their list of projected items in their harvest. I felt that $250 for 18 weeks of fresh food was a reasonable price.
The positives in my experience: (1) good quality produce, fresh and clean tasting, (2) a weekly email describing what was in our weekly delivery and suggestions/recipes on how to use it, (3) a clean, well-run farm - my granddaughter and I volunteered one Tuesday to pick for the local food bank.
The negatives: What I actually received bore little resemblance to their advertised harvest schedule. There were no berries; not one delivery of Swiss chard, which is a staple in my diet, ditto for broccoli; very few greens and lettuce in the spring when they are in season, but a lot of potatoes and turnips - while tasty there was way too much starch relative to other types of spring produce; finally there were a lot of "odd veggies" rather than the conventional ones: round cucumbers and other things I'd never heard of. That's fine if it's 20% of their delivery instead of about the 80% it was. While it's good to try new things, I objected to them replacing what they promised us with these oddities. To top it off, I saw Swiss chard on sale at our local food coop, labelled Peaceful Belly Farm - they were selling MY chard that I felt I'd already paid for to a second group of buyers. At this point, I objected after Week 12, and they cancelled my membership for a 1/3 refund ($83.33 and actually paid me $100) plus I received Week 13 veggies. There was no explanation for the altered deliveries and only a rather curt reply, but at least they were fair.
If you work with this CSA, I recommend pinning them down with an updated harvest list and a signed contract as the one they have posted online is dated 2009. Then there will be no...
