KG's Grill — Restaurant in Illinois

I found out about this place through C and C Soul Foods webpage. I love finding and supporting black owned businesses. I really wanted some macaroni and cheese and I read the reviews of this place and said why not. I ordered and the guy I spoke to was very nice. However, the macaroni and cheese was absolutely disgusting . I was so disappointed. I am also upset with myself for spending $15 on 3 orders of this macaroni. I should have been smarter and ordered 1 to taste then I would not have ordered 3 of them. Me and my two daughters tried it and all three containers ended up in the trash can. I don't mind wasting $5 trying something out but $15 just for it to be thrown away. I don't want to write this place off, because maybe they have other food that is good, but I honestly, do not know how they can cook and sell this...

We decided to stop in for lunch, first time in, super excited to try the VFW out. The online menu looked great, and co workers have said its good food, so we were anticipating an awesome lunch. The bartender up front was really friendly and directed us to the dining area. Once we were there, the person in the kitchen was on their phone and didn't acknowledge us. It's been years since I've ordered anything from the grill at the VFW. Imagine my surprise when I see that the menu has significantly expanded. I scrolled through the online menu, everything sounding awesome. Decided to try the Fish & Shrimp platter. Amazing. Thick, flaky cod in a slightly spicy breading, and four jumbo shrimp, same breading, with a sweet/spicy sauce for dipping. And I asked for onion rings for the side. Also awesome, and enough for two people. Looking forward to trying...
