Wigglers Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Illinois

I dove into a dive bar for lunch. Wigglers is out in the boonies and definitely off the beaten path. Once you make the trip and find it, you'll enjoy some flavorful bar grub.

I met the day bartender at another bar during Sunday Brunch and she sold me on adding Wigglers to my bucket list of places to experience. So when I walked in Monday for a late lunch, I surprised and put a smile on her face. I took a seat at the bar and she proudly told me the daily specials and even shared the specials for the rest of the week.

The Monday special is a Cheeseburger for $6. It came with a side of fries. I choose the Seasoned Fries, which are hand-cut and made in house. They also offer, Crinkle Fries which come from a bag. Typically I like Crinkle, but when you offer me hand-cut made in house fries, it is a no brainer. The burger was juicy and my toppings of pickles and onions made it more delectable.

In addition to my burger and fries, I enjoyed an order of Onion Rings. I am a Onion Ring snob. Whenever I order rings, I always ask if they are from a bag or made in house. If they come from a bag, I'm not ordering. I was excited to hear that Wigglers makes and batters their rings in house.

Ordering the rings, opened up a conversation with the other four men seated at the bar. We all seemed to enjoy our rings house-made, so we started sharing our favorite restaurants who has the best rings. All the other men were regulars and they treated me as if I were a regular, too. It was a welcoming experience. My order was so large, that I passed the basket around, so they could enjoy a ring, too.

Heard about this place from another parent at my daughters bus stop one day, thought we would give it a try. Went on a Friday night and it was half way full, but very nice and quiet place for it being a bar. I had the cod platter and my wife had the all you can eat crab legs which they serve on Fridays starting at 4. Everything was awesome and service was very attentive. I would give the atmosphere a 5 until this group sat behind us talking loud about politics and you could tell the whole bar was not feeling it because it raised the level of small conversation because that one guy was just that loud. Everyone was there to enjoy there meals and drinks and could careless about politics. All in all it was very enjoyable and the food was extremely tasty. We will be back again and hopefully the loudmouth won't be seated...

I went here to get food for my 2 young daughters and wife and it was terrible. Then when I was back the cook they worship admitted he spit in me and my family’s food. Obviously in a rage, I confronted the cook and they called the police on me. The owners worship the ground these dirty cooks walk on and decided it wasn’t a big deal so nothing was done. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this establishment. They don’t care about customer service.
