My wife always has liked this place. We haven't been there for at least 5 years because I have a little more upscale taste. It was her turn to choose the restaurant and we were soon on the ride from Washington PA out the Route 844 toward the Breezy Heights Tavern. I decided to get the Broasted Chicken because it's their claim to fame and I figured it would be the best. I had chicken and ribs with mashed potatoes gravy and a salad. I must say the salad was very fresh and the dressing was good (Marzetti's) The ribs were soft the bbq sauce was good the chicken was as advertised crispy skin and soft tasty chicken. The potatoes and gravy were average. My wife had fried shrimp. They were panko breaded like we do them at home. They were cooked right, nice and brown maybe just a touch greasy but good. The cocktail sauce was fresh as was her baked potato. All in all I was very pleasantly surprised at how good the whole meal was. I have a feeling that when it's her turn to choose down the road some we will be back out 844 to the Breezy Heights Tavern, this time I won't roll my eyes at her and just...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA great old roadhouse originally built in the 1920's, Breezy Heights Tavern has been operated by the same family since 1954! Although famous locally for its Broasted Chicken, the menu was the five-fingered variety (chicken, pizza, hamburger, cheeseburger, potato wedges), until the early 90's when it was expanded to pastas, steak and other American-Italian foods. Food and portion size is very good and pricing is moderate. Ambiance is great, the side booths offer privacy and a scenic view of the rolling farmland surrounding Breezy's. Check out the mural on the wall that surrounds the entire restaurant. Done in the 30's, it represents man's pursuits of both labor and leisure (a little high-brow for a former coal-town area, but it's pretty cool). If you're headed west from Washington PA on SR 844, aka Jefferson Avenue/Washington Pike, be sure and check out this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy 1st time. Went with friends had Reuben sandwich which was a bit salty as well as greasy.. Friend had the B roasted chicken which he said was amazing. 1 star for the decor. I do not believe in trophy hunting or the display of baby gazelle killed for a "bar" exhibit. Hunting for food is something understandable however many of the animals on display are not edible even in the countries where they were murdered. Lion, very young tiger, leopard, gazelle, looled like a lynx or snow leopard I did not go and look closely. I will not go back nor patronize and also advise my social media groups and friends of the same. No reason to make a special trip when there are many places that sell decent broasted chicken. I will drive to Pittsburgh to Frankie which is better and...
