Great neighborhood gem here. If you have a hankering for a Pittsburgh style fish sandwich, this is the place to visit if you pass by. Friendly folks, warm atmosphere, and great beers and outstanding fish sandwiches. Ordered two fish sandwiches three quarters pound of fish on each sandwich(you will not be hungry after eating those of these) and there’s definitely enough left over for a third. Served steaming hot, crisp batter, and tender fish on a fresh hoagie bun. Tartar sauce was very tasty as well - with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and yes a strong dash of hot sauce. Definitely got my fried fish fix (5 out of 5). If were to provide any critique maybe the bun could have been toasted a bit more to hold up to the condiments - however, while a bit challenging to manage eating like a sandwich, entire time I was eating the sandwich I had a big smile on my face. Will be back again for the fish!!! …. And maybe the sample a few other things. ( the pictures do not accurately capture the size and make it look a bit smaller that it actually is ) Outstanding beer selection, see picture for the entire menu - I sampled the Troeg’s Grand Cacao Stout and was happy I did. Highly recommend this place. If you are passing by this neighborhood definitely...
Read moreThe reviews are right! My friends play here on first and third Thursdays of the month: Old-Time music (like Appalachian, more real than bluegrass!): fiddles, guitar, mandolin, banjo, lots of good singing and you never know who might drop in and play along with the regulars (sometimes many folks, all very talented These folks attend and play at annual music festivals like Clifftop, Fayette County, West Virginia, Harrisonburg, Virginia, etc.). The owners are working along with others, a husband (cooking) wife (serving) team, and they are the nicest people! The food is very good: BIG delicious fish sandwich, not greasy; excellent cheeseburger, fries; they even have a big fried clam offering. But wait, there's more! ;) You can bring your children here, The customers are very low key and respectful. There is a separate room downstairs with a family table, and in warm weather there are picnic tables in the pleasant outdoors out back. And yes, there are the craft beers. They offer a sampler, which I have had and enjoyed very much. Great menu. Prices are very reasonable. Everything is very...
Read moreWe drove 40-45 minutes to this place from the city based on a recommendation. It was worth the drive. Very laid back environment. The waitresses were extremely polite and very attentive. The dining area is small but the tables seem to turn pretty quickly based on when we came ( Fri 7-8 pm ). After 8 it was full. The food was outstanding. Very good beer selection. Typically ..there is at least one thing I won’t like when I eat out. Everything I had was delicious, I was surprised. I had the fries, fish sandwich ( 2 ppl should split this, it’s huge) and we tasted every wing flavor. Buffalo , Secret Sauce were excellent...but all were great. Someone else at our table ordered potato soup and gave high marks for that as well. We also enjoyed live music at one point. Take your friends. Take your family. Lovely gem. P.S. Wings are full wings and crispy so it will take a little time to...
