If the food wasn't so good (and it IS good, I give them that) I would have given them 1 star for bad service. I went in there to order a hoagie but there was no one around, although I did hear noises coming from the kitchen. I waited 3 or 4 minutes, then called out...and still no one came. Two ladies were eating in the dining room and noticed my situation and one of them actually got up and contacted her server to help me out. A few seconds later a heavyset girl with dark hair came to the counter. She didn't smile and seemed a little disgruntled. I tried to place my order but then she asked my name AND phone number AND even my last name. I asked if all this was really necessary just to get a hoagie. She replied that they wanted me "in their system" for future orders. Personally, I don't like giving people so much info for something like this. Anyway, after telling her twice before what I wanted, she asked again. At one point I could quite hear her and asked "I'm sorry, what?" and she repeated herself kind of authoritatively. After the order was finally placed and paid for, I went out to my car to wait the 15 minutes which she said. While there, I saw her go to her car for a cigarette, and she turned and stared at me blankly as she crossed the parking lot. It seemed kind of rude. A few minutes later I went back inside and this time after a very short wait and tall guy with blond hair came out with my order. He was much more polite than she was, but he also had no idea I already paid and tried to charge me again. I offered to go get my receipt but he said "no worries". Apparently someone along the way had rather lousy communication in addition to a lousy attitude and lousy work ethic. I may or may or not go back to this place. I'm kind of on the fence about it. It seems some of the other reviews showed similar experiences.
I know this is a lengthy review, but I really want to add that after living in Pittsburgh for 12 years, I am sick and tired of ignorant, arrogant, obese people who can't get anything right and then treat you like YOU'RE somehow the problem. I've been to some nice places in Pittsburgh too, but this is truly a common theme in many small businesses like this and it gets old. I won't be in a big hurry to go back to this restaurant although it's...
Read moreDelicious food, great prices, and nice location! I've only had the calzone from here, but I can already tell this is a high quality restaurant and I will definitely return. Yesterday, I tried their small cheese calzone.
The price was really excellent! Only around 9.70 or so for this homemade and very tasty dish. It's filled with a large amount of cheese, both mozzarella and ricotta. It's warm and gooey, but the dough is not soggy. In fact, it was crispy and a bit buttery on the outside, which I really enjoyed.
The sauce on the side comes in a very large portion (the calzone itself is quite large, too). However, I wasn't the biggest fan of this sauce. It tasted a bit too acidic and didn't have many tomato chunks in there. Still, it was fine for a dip.
Overall, I will definitely return to this location. The prices are great, the food is delicious, and prices are very reasonable for the portions....
Read moreThis is our go to “ I’m too tired to cook” restaurant. Recently we went to a local winery and I ordered the chicken Parmesan for dinner. It was ok but NO WHERE NEAR AS GOOD AS PIZZA ROMA’S CHICKEN PARMESAN!!! With the meal you get their wedding soup which is always very fresh and homemade. You also get bread and a side salad with the dinner meals. You get two big pieces of perfectly cooked chicken. They know how to make al dente pasta and their marinara is awesome. My husband loves the Italian sampler platter which I think is better than Olive Garden's Tour of Italy. We always take food home because they give us so much. My other favorites are pizza, fish sandwiches, eggplant parmesan, hoagies, and their fried zucchini. You can get drinks from the bar too!!!!! GO HERE FOR GREAT ITALIAN FOOD AT A GREAT PRICE!! The atmosphere is old-fashioned, but I...
