Gluten Allergy FYI I recommend this place as I truly do love it. The environment is clean and unique. Food is typically delicious. Unfortunately, I must add that my most recent experience was actually very shocking and hurtful.
I always praise the food and coffee of this restaurant, but the service of my last experience was horrible to say the least; I've been here quite a few times and have noticed gluten free items on the menu, and with such advertisements on the menu, I decided this would be a great place to being family members from out of town (one of which has Celiac Disease - gluten ALLERGY [which is comparable to that of a severe peanut allergy, meaning her food cannot even come in contact with gluten]). My party informed the waitress of this. Long story short is that we asked for bacon on a separate plate, as the person with the allergy was going to consume it. Unfortunately, it did not arrive at our table on a separate plate, but instead it was thrown in a tray allowing it to come in direct contact with gluten. For a regular person this is fine, but with a severe allergy one can never be too careful. We immediately said something. Mindy, who brought us our food, responded in a very rude manner that made us feel like we did something wrong. She went to take the tray back, as if the whole order was wrong, which is not what we communicated to her at all. We let her know the sandwich was fine, however we asked that we get fresh bacon, as we originally requested it be on a separate plate (and for good reason). She plopped the tray back on the table and walked away in a huff stating that she would take care of it. This, of course, was quite upsetting, because by no means was anyone in the party rude, but simply requested that things be made as was originally requested. Mindy followed through with sending out new bacon, which was one step away from being charred. Although she sent it out with a separate waitress (still not our own waitress), pointing over to our table to instruct it where to go. I was greatly troubled as I observed what appeared to be her reiterating her side of the story to a follow coworker with a lot of sass, as if we had been rude customers. That was certainly not the case. I definitely assumed that a restaurant that advertised gluten free items on their menu would have their kitchen employees know a little about the reasoning behind this needing to be a thing. I was very disappointed and upset by this visit. I still love the restaurant and the food, but as a customer I felt very wronged, which is not how I ever how I want to feel when leaving...
Read morethe food was amazing! the service, on the other hand, was terrible. today we went to try out this restaurant for the first time. there was a waitlist which wasn’t long and eventually we got seated down. we waited there for 20 minutes. we had noticed that during that time, there were two waitresses that had been attending others around us. they would basically ignore us when they walked by. notice, that a table was seated in front of us that got attended in less then 3 minutes. we kind of stared in disbelief because one of those two waitresses practically ran to attend them and just looked at us. we saw them both talking and staring at us by the kitchen. minutes later, a third waitress joined them and the minute that she saw us seated unattended, she came to see us. the thing is that she was attending tables from the other side of the restaurant so it didn’t make sense why she attended us and not one of those two waitresses. honestly, we felt discriminated by those two waitresses that ignored us. we aren’t sure if it was because we are hispanic or not but it seemed racist for them to do that when they clearly saw us there waiting for 20 minutes. i want to thank the waitress that did attend us even if we weren’t originally her table. we saw the work she put in attending us and the tables on the other side of the restaurant. she was super sweet and kind to us. we could tell she was a kind person. it’s honestly disappointing that there is discrimination in this restaurant because the food was wonderful but the service...
Read moreThe table we were seated at was directly underneath an air conditioning vent, and they had the air conditioning set to about 50° when it was a beautiful 75° out, and they could’ve just opened up the garage doors in the front of the restaurant that were made to be an open door front wall. They don’t let you order from the menu when they have a buffet, and the only thing decent on the buffet was biscuits and gravy. The eggs were terrible and mashed like the were fake eggs out of a bag. They were saturated soggy, and I almost attempted to eat them, but they were cold to the touch before I could try. They served red skin potatoes for breakfast potatoes instead of using traditional Yukon, or Russet’s, so they had had a rubbery texture. They did not have Tabasco sauce, and only offered Franks Red Hot, which would have been nice if they were serving hot wings. I asked for grilled onions for my breakfast potatoes, and they would not cook them because they were serving them mixed with red and green peppers on the buffet which is not for many who don’t like red and green peppers on their breakfast potatoes. My coffee was cold before I could drink half of it and the server did nothing to offer better seating, or to adjust the air conditioning. I was wearing pants and a sweater for this whole experience, and I watched three families walk in and then walked back out because how cold it was, and by the looks of the buffet at $13 ahead. I would’ve been better off eating at Cracker Barrel! I would not even do this...
