Lakelife Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Indiana

Came here on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend with family. The dining space is huge between the 21+ bar 1st floor of the main building and family dining of the 2nd floor that includes a deck overlooking the channel. They also have an extensive amount of tables outside along the channel where you can watch the boat traffic as well as an exterior bar. It was a warm and sunny afternoon, so we got a table outside along the channel for the people-watching entertainment.

The menu is an interesting collection of items, although a little more expensive than Danny's down the road. Not many non-meat options for vegetarians, although my wife did indicate that she liked the greens, veggies, and egg in her Garden Salad (9.95). Son tried The Captain (14.95), a burger with bacon and cheddar cheese and 2 glazed donuts for buns. Not something I would do, but said he was glad he tried it. Daughter ordered the Crispy Buffalo Chicken Wrap (12.95), but she said it didn't have enough buffalo sauce and too much celery compared to chicken. My parents each did The Horshoe - Kayak (10.95), which included a choice of meat that was served on their waffle fries and had a sauce over it. I ordered the Nashville Chicken Wrap (12.95), which wasn't overly spicy but I thought it had good flavor. I also enjoyed the waffle fries for my side that had a bit of cheese sprinkled over them.

They had a guy at a station outside selling IVs of fluids to compensate for alcohol consumption, I guess so that folks could drink more? Seemed a tad odd considering the history of the establishment prior to this one, but did not try that.

Multi level cozy place, lake access with plenty of outdoor seating. There was confusion on where the main entry was located. Went to what thought was the entrance which had a very nice handicap accessible ramp but there was a permanent sign on the building directing everyone to the lower entrance. Too bad it was a raining,so we sat inside. Inside is decorated nicely with plenty of windows and light. It was a little quirky upon entering. The hostess greeted us and then seated us upstairs? The stairs were narrow and could be challenging for guest with disabilities. Once seated the wait staff was very pleasant and welcoming. We ordered the featured Bloody Mary Bar only to find out that it was located downstairs only!? Deciding not to go up and down the stairs again we just ordered drinks and food upstairs. Food was mediocre at best. Typical bar food with a beach vibe theme. We had the breaded shrimp which didn’t have much flavor and was a bit over cooked. Boneless chicken strips and they were a little over cooked as well. The chicken wrap was good nice and fresh. Waitress was very nice and was a pleasure to talk to. The only other negative thing I would say would be the cleanliness could be better. Some seating is utilizing pontoon seats which is very clever and adds to the theme but they really need to be cleaned,specifically the bases. Yuk. My reviews are based on a a strike three policy. This was the first time I have been here so, I will return at some point and hopefully, it will be a sunnier day to take advantage of the outside. Not that many places like this on the water around here so , I hope it can be taken up...

We have been here twice over the last few weeks. Both weeks we had groups over 8 people. The first time the visit was spectacular. Food was PERFECT and service was exceptiional, especially for how busy they were. All week I was excited to go back. We had a few people this week that hadn’t been here before and we had talked it up quite a bit. The hostess told us that our longest wait was going to be waited on. We understood because we know places are short staffed. To make a long story short we were there for one hour and 40 minutes to receive our drinks which were not correct and I did not receive my drink at all (soft drink and I asked 3x for it and it never came). The appetizers we ordered were delicious but some of those were wrong as well. We finally became so frustrated we just asked for our bill, waited 25 minutes for that, paid, and left. We were there for well over an hour and was never asked to place an order for our dinner. I’m not sure if it’s a training issue or exactly what was going on but we were extremely disappointed last night. Had that been my first experience I probably wouldn’t ever go back. I think we will give it one more shot before the end of the season and hopefully things improve. First visit was 5 stars, this visit...
