I'm a foodie, so this review should be taken with a grain of salt. If you like a lot of choices and basic breakfast, it will feed you well.
I ordered the chorizo skillet with the home fries on the side, eggs over easy on the side, with pancakes, and add a side of sour cream.
The skillet had what was expected in terms of ingredients aside from two pieces of home fries in the mix. The chorizo was not spicy. Reminds me of the Lincoln Square chorizo, bland and chunky, taking up space but no real kick you get from Mexican chorizo. The skillet had a lot of queso on it. Overall, the skillet was not a favorite.
The eggs were overcooked, but I'm really only interested in the yolks, and the yellow was runny enough. I didn't eat the whites because they were lacey and a bit too fried.
The pancakes were small, tasted a little bit like flour, and were cold. They sat for a good 10 minutes, and the butter did not melt. The syrup would please little kids but also nothing to write home about.
The home fries were good. Added hot sauce. No complaints. Normally I don't eat them and give them to my company, but I was hopeful since they also looked tasty.
The service was great. The lady who took the order didn't bring the food out, and when she checked in, fairly immediately after getting the delivery, we notified her that we were missing home fries, pancakes, and toast. She got them for us quickly. She was kind, fast, and really busy with multiple tables. She checked in several times. And again, very pleasant.
As we went to pay the bill, we noticed a lot of employees standing around. Seems as though staffing was misappropriated and servers were overwhelmed with customers. But everyone was kind and smiling.
Overall assessment: will return one more time to try again. If not successful, will not return. If you like Lincoln Square, you'll like this place.
I rank like this... 1 star, never return 2 star, wouldn't choose it but likely won't deny it if others want to go there because I can likely find something I can eat 3 star, ok when stikes my fancy 4 star, want to return 5 star, think about it often and...
Read moreI'll start off saying the food is great and the other staff member that seated us was friendly, however the server we got was very impatient and rude. She approached our table to get our drink orders with an attitude, we informed her we are ready to order if that was ok. She didn't acknowledge we were even taking to her and repeated, "Two waters and an orange juice" and walked away. She brought out drinks, dropped them and left again to check on another table and went back to kitchen area. Finally circled back to us and asked for our order. My husband was first to order then my 83 year old father a very kind gentleman, she was so impatient and rude to him. I was next to order and I have dairy allergies I asked for the burrito to be prepared with no cheese or ranch sauce due to my dairy allergy. She went to put the order in. Came back and explained to me that I shouldn't order anything made on the grill which I expressed my gratitude for the heads up. I asked her what she would suggest and she got very irritated, I suggested maybe the cook would have an idea to make it easy. When she came back she had a suggestion but was not nice at all about it. I asked to cancel our order that we will pay for the juice and it might be best we go somewhere else. She said it was too late for that the other 2 orders were already being cooked. We agreed to stay as we didn't want them to suffer the loss of food, big regret we should have left. My meal came out great, props to the cook but the service was very poor. We won't...
Read moreHORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH MEDIOCRE FOOD. My fiancé and I wanted to try some place new for breakfast on New Year’s day, so we decided to give Rise and Shine a try. We called to place a to go order and the lady on the phone was less than pleasant. I looked past that because I figured they were busy and maybe she was having a bad day. When my fiancé brought our food home I quickly realized they forgot our side of salsa so he went back to get it. When ordering my omelette I requested that it not be cooked hard but it seemed they didn’t get that because my omelette was indeed over cooked. By the time my fiancé was back home and we were about to eat, I realized they forgot the pancakes that came with my omelette. At this point we weren’t going out a second time because of their mistake so we decided to call them. The girl on the phone (a different one from who took our order) acted clueless when I asked if the manager was in. She confusingly asked if I wanted to speak with them. When I stated yes she put me on a brief hold just to come back and say the manager was busy and unable to talk. She asked for my name and number and said she’ll have the manager call me back. We never received a call back. My fiancé called back today and finally spoke with a manger who was non apologetic and said there was nothing she could do about it and we should have proof of all we were saying. All of this over food that wasn’t even all that tasty (the potatoes literally had no seasoning). It’s safe to say we’ll...
