I’m working up in the international falls area this season. So I frequently go to the chocolate moose on Sundays. I came in on the tail end of the breakfast rush and there was a line of customers waiting to pay their bills. I have always had a great experience eating there. The cashier that was handling the customers saw me walk in I motioned table for one and sat on the bench where future customers wait to be assigned a table. I have no problem waiting since she had a long line of paying customers trying to pay their tabs . About 5 minutes later a couple comes in and sits down next to me and also waits to be seated. Then another couple. The 4th man in line to pay his bill said I can wait if you want to seat those customers. She looked at me then motioned to the couple next to me and says you two want a table or booth. They said booth. So she looks back at me because she can see I’m visually looking at her with a confused look as to why she’s skipping me. She comes back and starts taking the next person in line to pay and ignores me. I got up and said thanks and she didn’t even respond back and I walked out the door. I really enjoyed Sunday meals at the chocolate moose on my day off as Sunday is my only day off. But to be rudely ignored and skipped as I was patiently waiting which I understand things can get busy. She knew I was there. I told her table for one and yet she decided to be unprofessional and play games. Sad to say I will most likely not return to the chocolate moose for...

At first glance the atmosphere is FUN, the order came out FAST, and the portions of our Moose Combo of a 1/2 rack of ribs, a 1/2 lb sirloin steak (requested medium), Rosie's Loaded Potato, and a side salad was impressive.
However, EXCEPT FOR the TASTY mushrooms with the steak, and the HUGE side salad, - the rest was a big disappointment for our 37th Anniversary get-away, and our first time in International Falls!
The ribs were dried out & cold (as if reheated from the weekend before) and not edible (we're use to "fall-off-the-bone juicy & tender"); the steak was well done, tough & cold; and the potatoes were hard (not cooked all the way through), and though topped with HOT cheese they were cold underneath.
THE BEST THINGS: ♥️ the parking lot proximity of our Days Inn Hotel ♥️ the atmosphere of Knotty Pine decor ♥️ the Chocolate Lava Cake ♥️ and our friendly, attentive server, Alyssa.
We realize were in a CoVid world, and April is not the normal tourist season, but to pay $32 pre-tax for a meal we could barely eat we were, at the very least, expecting an apology from the owner or manager, 50% off the total, OR a free dessert. They only offered 15% off the bill.
We'll try breakfast there tomorrow, because it's conveniently close, but maybe the owner's and cooks could have a discussion about excellence & consistancy...
Read moreMy wife had the Monte Christo and it was really tasty! She ordered it with the waffle fries and it came with a side of maple syrup to dip the sandwich in . But the side of ranch instead of a seasoned sour for the waffle fries was disappointing. That's fine for my 12yr old daughter but for an adult condiment.....😬
I had the Perogies and they were tasty but needed a bit more to be a substantial dinner. They are stuffed with the traditional mashed potato stuffing and really good but definitely missing some kind if a sauce and more protein.....The bread stick they served with it, on top of Perogies pretty much misses the mark for me despite how good the bread stick was. There's just no need for extra carbs when you're already having dumplings stuffed with mashed potatoes ...........My wife's meal was far more filling than mine was and much more flavorful.
Overall a pretty solid meal for the area despite my foodie nitpicky critiques. I would definitely eat there again if I was in...
