Carlitos Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Iowa Park

Have not been in a long time so decided to go and try it today. I went there around 345pm. to beat Saturday dinner rush. I ordered the Big Daddys plate. I requested if they could change the tamale to a cheese enchilada. The server was not sure, I mentioned to him they had in the past since I do not like tamales. He was quick to respond "well, a lot has changed now" but he did go ask and they stated yes. The problem began with the food coming out within 5 to 7 minutes from order. A bit fast. The plates were extremely hot from the plater warmer which is a good thing. Downhill from there. I started with the taco. It was barely warm meat, and the meat looked dry and old, and the lettuce had a strange taste. The tostada was the next problem, same dry old and not hot beef, lettuce taste and shell did not seem very fresh. The ultimate reason for me stopping the meal and walking out, I went to the main plate, I immediately notice something looped and metal sticking out of my refried beans. I touched it and sure enough it was a metal wire looped. My server had walked by just prior, I called him up and told him look, I showed him the wire and as I pulled it out it was indeed a long piece of wire looped and twisted at end. Cost is what plummets the rating. (See picture) This is an $8.00 "lunch special". That's right. 2 cheap, crunchy tacos and 1 small spoonful of beans and 1 small spoonful of rice. Other menu items are of similar cost and size, especially if you get it "to go". This is NOT worth 21.26 for two small lunch orders of 2 crunchy Taco Bell tacos. (See Pic). The staff are friendly enough. The setting is ok at this location. But the food is way over priced. People giving this place 5 stars must have 5 yachts and 3 mansions, in order to not to be bothered by the sky high prices (or small portions). Also, why are we still doing crunchy tacos instead of street tacos? Nowhere on the menu does it specify that it's crappy, "taco Tuesday"-at-Karen's, crunchy tacos, and not regular soft tortilla tacos with steak that you'd expect to get at a...

First thing and only negative thing about Carlito's is I tripped in the doorway and smacked my arm and fingers on the door. If I was in charge there, I'd put a "Watch your step." sign on the door. The atmosphere is welcoming and there are lovely paintings and other types of decorations in there. I love the painting near the door. We just walked in and sat down.
