Dined at Smokey D's in Des Moines for the 1st time in a VERY long time today, and came away with very positive marks for them. I ordered the Lunch Rack of Ribs (4 bones) which comes with 2 sides. For my sides I chose Cole Slaw and Baked Beans. Wife had the 2 meat Dinner with 2 sides, and she also had Slaw and Beans. After getting our own fountain drink, we were able to find a table immediately. I then went to the counter where there was a number of bottles of BBQ sauces available to be taken to your table. Kinda neat, and I can speak that this is a post-Covid thing, as for years we have dined here and the sauces have been on your table. Good job, Smokey D's on this! The meals were GREAT. Seriously, I could have taken a couple of the ribs and some of the sides home for later, but figured what the heck. Wife felt the same with her meal. Oh yeah, you get garlic toast with the plates too! So, here ya go Smokey D's ... Cleanliness - 5 stars Food - 5 stars Going the extra mile - 5 stars (this takes into account the sauces available for your table, which are then wiped down after each use.) Hell, even the men's restroom was tidy. And you know how men can be pigs. (pardon the pun in this BBQ place!) Just finishing up the lunch hour on this busy Saturday, and there were just a few drops of water on the vanity between the sinks and the towel dispensers.

You see this this is puke! A couple weeks ago we took our family here and everybody got food poisoning! Including our children 😡 when I called up there to let them know there’s been an outbreak someone has cross contaminated something the manager was extremely disrespectful called me a liar and refused me a refund I went out and took pictures of the pule to post on here and let everybody know what’s going on when I got a call from the head manager who apologized and seemed to take my concern seriously. Having been assured they were going to prep there whole staff on food safety I decided to not make a fuss and just leave it alone. Well now on Facebook I see someone else has came here and the same thing happened to them I am livid we missed half a week of work because of this for you to not even take our complaints seriously. Like most families we live paycheck to paycheck due to the economy and this is not ok! And let’s go ahead and talk about the more important part you guys are literally going to kill somebody! When I was in grade school a girl died from ecoli you’re gunna keep being unsanitary and your are going to kill someone’s a child salmonella is a real thing. I was a server/ bartender for 10 years! Never in all my years in the industry did even one location I work at have a case of food poisoning even once let alone twice in two weeks this is pure laziness that is going to kill somebody. Smokey d’s you can do better

Recently came here with my boyfriend and his parents and was able to eat-in this time. It was around 12:30 on a Saturday so JUST as the lunch rush was beginning. I didn't really know what to order because so many things sounded good but the guy at the counter suggested the giant, loaded baked potato. I got mine with brisket because that's how he said he liked it and it did not disappoint! Everyone loved their food! It's so much better fresh. Now, I'm craving that BBQ baked potato again... April 2023: We ordered during our drive back to town and picked up. The food was ready when they said it would be. So glad we did not eat in the restaurant because they were slammed! And, rightfully so! Everything was delicious! The burnt ends, ribs, and mac & cheese were perfection! The wings were missing a bit of sauce but were cooked just right! I love that all their meat was crisp on the outside but still juicy inside. The food was still hot when we got home so no reheating needed. The Sassy sauce is my favorite! Can't wait to go back and try something else!

My recent visit to Smokey D's BBQ was an absolute delight. Despite its unassuming one-story building, the food and service were simply outstanding. The ample parking spaces available made it easy for me to park and enjoy the delicious BBQ. The service was incredibly fast, which was impressive given the busy atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure that our orders were accurate and that we had everything we needed. We ordered pulled pork, beef brisket and cheddar jalapeño sausage, and each dish was incredibly tasty. The meats were perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the cheddar jalapeño sausage had a nice kick to it. We particularly enjoyed the extra fiery sauce, which added an extra layer of heat and flavor to our meals. Although the $3 Bloody Mary we ordered was average, the food more than made up for it. Smokey D's BBQ is a must-visit for any BBQ lover. I highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates good food, fast service, and a friendly atmosphere. I will definitely be back for more!

There was a line of about 30 people when we arrived around noon on a Saturday, but the line moved fairly quickly. The lunch platter ($12.95) includes one meat and two sides and a piece of garlic toast. I selected burnt ends, potato casserole, and jalapeño corn. Our food was delivered to our booth in about 5-10 minutes after ordering. The food is served in a rectangular plastic basket lined with wax paper, and the sides are served in Styrofoam cups . A metal fork is provided, and hot and mild bbq sauce and other condiments are available near the drink station. The meat portions seemed small (about 8 half-inch squares of meat for the burnt ends portion) but had a good taste. The sides were adequate but not exceptional. There seemed to be plenty of seating even on a busy weekend day, with both wooden booths and tables. Decor consists of framed bbq competition posters and old photos, and there is an impressive display of bbq contest trophies in a case near the restrooms.

Hands down a 5/5 ! First time going in with my girlfriend and our kids we were helped by this amazing cashier who helped explain the menu a bit and let us know some specifics about the food and what's best, we ended up getting the sampler platter that feeds 2-3 people and OMG was that amazing ! The ribs were something I won't forget , as were the burnt ends! The brisket was delicious and the pulled pork was great ! Really the entire meal was ! The rub they put on all their meats is Delicious! Wish I knew the recipe myself 😂! I also Loved the fact you get to pick your own seating ( corner booths are perfect ) ! You get to take your own sauce squirt bottles to your table wether you want the spicy, mild or medium ! The bartenders btw are also very friendly and inviting (: Loved this restaurant and the entire order came out to just over $30 !!! For food that good hell you can bet we will BOTH be coming back !!
