Wackos — Restaurant in Iowa

My family needed to eat dinner last night so my mom called wackos and asked for our order to be made and ready to go by 4:45 which was an hour from the time she called. Other places will take our order and make it a few minutes prior to pickup fresh and we’ve done that with wackos previously. When my mom called the lady she spoke to on the phone was rude and disrespectful, my mom had asked for the fried chicken dinner but all white meat and if it’s an extra charge that’s fine. The lady was rude and explained she’d been in trouble the last time she did that. My mom said I’m sorry but you can charge me extra my dad doesn’t like the dark meat so only white please. Begrudgingly the lady said fine after speaking with another staff member. At the end of the call before hanging up and hearing the order read back my mom confirmed again it will be ready by 4:45? The lady said well our cooks already making it, taken back my mom said please remake it closer to pickup time so it’s fresh. The lady said whatever and hung up. When I went to pick it up for my mom I asked the lady if it had been remade like requested? She told me no they were making it when my mom called and so they finished making it and set it aside, so it had been sitting on there counter with no heater exposed to the open air where customers sit at the bar for an hour!!!!!!! Angry I said it needed to be remade immediately! She gave me attitude and said she’d get the owner, the owner didn’t speak to me but the cook came and got the food to remake it. My mom on the phone with me at that point had been annoyed by the audacity and rudeness said never mind we no longer want their food and they will be losing our business permanently!! So I hope all of you have a better experience but I for one am beyond infuriated that they would allow our food to sit for an hour on the counter where other customers could touch it and have the level of rude and disrespectful attitude they had. You work for tips, tips come from those who like your work and attitude so I was shocked how she reacted. Her jobs to serve and yet she acted like I was a stain she didn’t want to bother with. I will never be returning to this awful establishment who would allow this level of service. Good luck to you if...

Food was ok but nothing phenomenal. It's bar food which sometimes a person just craves! My husband got the tenderloin and it had a fish taste? My guess is they didn't clean the oil recently. I got the Philly. Again, ok, but nothing to write home about. The weird thing: they were out of french fries. Our waitress said we could substitute anything on the sides menu at no charge. They still charged us $1 each for the substitutions. We got wings for an appetizer. They were delicious!!! However, we only got 6. And the price was $12.95.

We didn't worry too much about that until we got the bill at the end. After all, it's a dive bar in Knoxvile . How much could it be? Well, let me tell you. Our bill for lunch was $74. For 2 people getting bar food. I had 2 cranberry vodkas. They were $4.50 each, small and barely any vodka. My husband had 3 draft beers. Again, small plastic cups and they were $6 each. We used our debit card and there was a $4 fee. We don't mind paying higher prices when they are deserved.

If the prices weren't so ridiculously shocking we'd have been ok. As they are, we won't be back. At least print your prices so people aren't so shocked.

The food was AMAZING! The service was outstanding, our waitress was very polite and helpful. The downside to my visit was a teenage boy who was wearing glasses and had brown hair. He was sitting at the other side of the bar folding napkins. He kept making heart hands at me. I kept looking away and then I looked back and he flipped me off. He kept making himself drinks out in the open and was not washing his hands which is clearly unsanitary. He was slurping them down right in front of everyone. He downed like half a bottle of grenadine in the time I was there. He was touching his face while folding napkins. That is disgusting. He seemed very rude with his teammates. If he was not an employee at this restaurant I would totally come back. But that was just repulsive to watch. I couldn’t even finish my food! I paid my bill with cash and he came back and said leave this money as his tip. I said no and he argued with me. Turns out he put his own money on the table to make it look like he got a big tip and then he called me “thic” and walked away. Then a separate lady gave my change. He walked to the table with napkins and called my friends and I “retards” before winking at me a walking away. This was a horrible experience! 0/10 would...
