I was really craving some fish, so I went to Yelp, and this place had decent reviews, so I decided to go there. I wasn't sure if they accepted to go orders on the phone. I went in and placed my order. It did take a few minutes, but hey, it's not fast food. It's being cooked to order. I have to say I was very impressed with how clean the establishment was and also how friendly the employees were when I walked in. Tables were being cleaned, and when my food was ready, it was brought out to me, and the young lady actually opened each container and allowed me to see what was inside. So that way, we both knew I received everything that I paid for. I definitely appreciate that, and it is a sign of excellent service. I ordered the flounder dinner. I had fried green tomatoes as a side and french fries. I was surprised by the portion I was expecting maybe 2 pieces of fish, but it seriously was enough for 2 people to share that meal, and the prices are very reasonable. The star of the dish was the fried green tomatoes. Yum yum yum, perfectly fried, so crispy, where the breading didn't separate when you bit into the tomato, it had a really good flavor and I really wish I would have ordered another side of that. The French fries were so so they could have used some more seasoning. That could be my personal preference. The fish, well, it's perfectly fried, so it was golden brown. Tasted fresh did not taste frozen. The only thing I wish I would have requested for it to be fried hard. I personally like my fish a little bit more crispy. It was a little too soft for my personal preference. I also ordered the key lime pie, which they are known for. it's a different key lime pie, but it had a great taste and a crust. I'm not disappointed that I had it. It was really nice at the end of the meal. Overall, I enjoyed the service. The food was okay. I wasn't unable to finish all the fish and again, these are my personal preferences, I would have preferred a little bit more seasoning on the french fries and the fish to be fried, a little bit harder. Would I go back again? Definitely, I'll try some additional items on the menu. There were quite a few people coming and picking up to go orders. So, I believe you can place an order by calling ahead. Read moreIt's mind blowing that this place has anything above 3 stars. I honestly wish I could give none.
My boyfriend and I came here looking for fried green tomatoes so we got an order of those, crab cakes, and ocean pasta. I'm allergic to shrimp so we tried substituting the shrimp for more crab or something else but they were very unhelpful and ended up adding an extra 3 dollars to substitute it even though I was getting NO SHRIMP.
So we get the food and everything disgusting. Like really disgusting. The fried green tomatoes were soggy and flavorless The crab cakes were too mushy but the flavor was okay. The fries and hushpuppies that came with them were cooked too long and flavorless. The ocean pasta, that was supposed to have extra crab, had NO crab. We even dug around in the noodles to look for it and there was nothing. Getting a side salad was ALSO an extra THREE dollars and then it's literally just old romaine with 2 bites of vegetables on top. The breadstick that came with was okay.
We called them to come back for the missing crab but they were about to close so were just told to come replace it tomorrow. We now have the replacement and could instantly tell something was off because it smelled like rotten fish. Anyone who eats seafood knows that it shouldn't actually smell putrid. We try to eat it anyway because so far it's been a waste of 60 bucks and now we both have food poisoning.
Them giving us meatless pasta before closing also gives the impression that the kitchen knew and just wanted to get out of there.
Long story short this place sucks in...
Read moreWe happened to be passing through this city and were hungry. So, I pulled up local reviews of restaurants. Since this one had plenty of good one's, we decided to give it a try. When we arrived at the location, I was bit hesitant because the building appeared to have been a convenience store at one time and I was worried about the quality of the place. Even though the building was a bit different, for a Seafood Restaurant IMO, the inside did have some themed décor. The place also seemed very clean, which is why we decided to stay, and try them out. The ordering was a little weird, because you had to go to the register to order and pay at that time, like you were in a fast food place. I did not like that at all! Then you waited for the food to be brought out, but you had to make your own drinks. I do not understand why they did not have normal wait service, as it was not very convenient or relaxing for the customer, IMO. However, even with those things, I have to say it was the Best Seafood Restaurant I have been to in a long time! They had a Big variety of things to order, fair prices, and the food was Great! If you happen to be in the area, do not mind the odd wait service, then I would recommend checking...
