Absolutely unbelievable, owner was extremely rude to myself and my 15 year old brother in law. Stalked us around the course and stopped us to ask us what we were doing.
I’m not drowning in money so I only have a few clubs and no bag.
He said people don’t usually come out here with clubs, despite us having clubs.
When he saw we were actually golfing he seemed annoyed. He told us the men’s league was coming and we needed to hurry. We were on hole 4 out of 9.
He then got aggravated and raised his voice causing me to ask him if it was a racial issue (as a Hispanic man born and raised in Jacksonville I rarely feel discriminated against, but this behavior through me for a loop). I informed him that I’m a union roofer who likes to enjoy his leisure time. I’m not a professional golfer. I’m a paying customer who wants to unwind. I apologized and let him know we would be gone before the league started at 4:30pm. It was 2:50 pm. Their last available tee time is at 3:00 pm. We were not out of line.
I then went to the front desk lady after being unable to finish my game out of sheer discomfort. She was also extremely snarky and informed me that we must have been holding up players despite no one being immediately behind us.
Absolutely unacceptable! I live in walking distance and was considering an annual membership. Will not...
Read moreWe arrived and it was busy. There were no tables available and that was fine. We weren’t in a rush. There were 3 seats at the bar and there were 3 of us so said no big deal as will sit there, have some drinks, and if food takes a little bit it’s not problem. The “bar manager” ( I use quotes as anyone who has ever worked in a restaurant knows that this isn’t how you manage) told us that we can’t sit in the open seats and must leave because they are too busy. We didn’t demand immediate attention or say that we had a time schedule to attend to. 1) the intention of a bar is to fulfill the overflow of waiting guests 2) to be so rudely told that they were too busy to accomodate us under any circumstance or timeframe is inappropriate. Clearly I can’t comment on the food but you are who you hire and to put someone in charge with a lack of realization of how the restaurant business works says plenty. Our money will be...
Read moreThis is a tasty restaurant in a relatively small town in the middle of Illinois as the chef creates dishes I might expect to see in St. Louis or Chicago. Everything I’ve had, and we’ve gone half a dozen times, has been very flavorful, although the service is highly dependent upon which server has your table. Time of day, degree of busyness, none of that seems to matter. It’s a little loud, because it’s a large open room with wooden floors, but given it originally started off as the bar for a golf course, it’s developed into a tiny gem in...
