We got charged a large amount of tip in our bill without our consent. Totally UNSAT. Family and friends met at the place, total of 5 people and they override the cashier by manually charging over $40 in tips. We even told the server at the beginning that it was different checks to let them know we were paying individually, but we still got charged the tips manually. When we asked the server why are you manually charging the tips without our permission, she had no answer. The only thing she said was since we all 5 are together in the table that's why . They are even charging for using the card about $3. So multiply that by 4 checks we had equals to $12 just for using our cards. Is this even legal? This is not nice to do to people. They even don't have a policy anywhere stating this. No wonder the place was empty when we went. The administration side is a trick. Please be careful if you decide to go. If you spend $30 you will need $15 more for tips.
Again, be careful!!!
Update: Let me remind you that you are wrong. Everyone here knows that you are lying to yourself because not all buisness do this. I've been all around sir and you as well as I know that this is not a true statement. Let me give you just one restaurant that you should emulate. "Pal Campo" has locations in Orlando and they DO NOT do what you do, they also have POS and they let their customers decide the tips that are worth depending the service. Tips are a courtesy and is not a mandatory fee and I'll tell you why. If for example you had a bad server, how is it that a bad server will make the same tip as a good server? That's not right, you agree? You probably won't. You suppose to award good service to the server that deserves it depending their service. Charging tips without consent is not in your policy. The justification of (is on the POS) is not true. Read your receipt. It says "Manual gratuity". Should I go in the process and explain how you get there? I think we all know how that gets there sir. No need to get upset, this is our voice on how we feel we got taken advantage and that should be respected especially from owner. Maybe you have been in business for a while like you said but haven't had noone tell you this. People just don't come back when they realize what you have done to them. Some just don't voice their opinion, they just don't come back. That's how your buisness is empty on the hours of lunch times. So you should take this as a recommendation and a critique to help grow your buisness. We all have the right to voice our opinion. No need for you to get aggressive to the customers. You more than anyone should know that when you have been in buisness for the time you said you been, not all comments are positive unless you create your own comments. Again, no need to be rude with the customers. Remember, customers are the ones that makes your buisness. Your buisness without customers is nothing, never forget that... There is always room for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe place was open when we went inside and nothing indicated that the kitchen closed almost 2 hours before the establishment closes. As soon as we walked in, it was quite uncomfortable. Everyone just stared at us. We approached the register, an employee said hello, and when we began to order we were abruptly informed the kitchen was closed. (Realistically, anyone of the people who had stared at us when we walked in could have mentioned that) I wouldnāt say anyone was blatantly rude but it uncomfortable. I had been wanting to try this place for a little while, but because we felt like we interrupted something today, Iām not sure if I will give it another chance. At any restaurant if the kitchen stops serving early it would be helpful to update that information online. Considering it was 9:15 and theyāre open until 11 we wouldnāt have driven so far out of our way to stop here if we knew the kitchen was already closed. Fortunately for us, because of this inconvenience we found a new spot open late on Sundays called Jax fish-shrimp-chicken thatās right down the road and absolutely phenomenal.if youāre in the area and find yourself in the same situation as us, drive down to 3646 Blanding blvd. Their kitchen was open, and the food is finger lickinā good! No I am not affiliated with Jax seafood/chicken at all, today is the first time Iāve eat there. This is my personal experience...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe vacationed in this area to get away and visit friends. First, read carefully the negative reviews. If someone cannot identify clearly what they ate, that should be a red flag. My wife and I take reviews seriously and are candid with feedback. We stayed at a True Hilton in the area and the young lady working at the front desk highly recommended this restaurant. We went on our first day and it was phenomenal! Our server, Jeymarie, was extremely nice and explained the popular menu items. The arroz con gandules, mofongo, and bistec is super delicious! You need to try the sorullo with queso as an appetizer! We returned the second day with our friends. Unfortunately, Jeymarie was not working. Our friends loved the bistec and they really liked the chicharon de pollo. We went back by ourselves the third day and excited that the waitress, Jeymarie, was working. I had the red snapper fish and it was top notch and my wife had the bistec again. We highly, highly, highly recommend to eat here. If you're a local, please support this restaurant. We're from the state of NC and we'll return to Jacksonville in the near future. We will be eating here when we return! Ask for Jeymarie to serve you as she does a...
