I’ve never felt the need to leave a review on a place but I feel as if it’s necessary this time. Everything I’ve heard about this place from other customers has been positive yet when my child decided to join their staff they would come home crying about every night. I hate seeing my child so upset over a bad workplace, especially one that has all these positive interactions. Me and my husband decided we were going to go out to eat here for dinner and see what the fuss was about. My child did not accompany us because they said they will never step foot in there again, and I can see why. When we were seated it was very obviously not a busy night and most of the tables around us were empty but it still took our waitress 15 minutes to come speak with us. I understood that she may have been busy with other things as I’ve been in the service industry in the past and I know it can be difficult at times. We decided to order our food and drinks at the same time and it took our waitress 10 minutes to get our drinks and 15 minutes for our food to come out. Our waitress wasn’t taking care of tables near us but again I gave her the benefit of the doubt, maybe it was a tough night. The important part of this is that we were able to speak with the owner at our table where we found out our waitress is her daughter. I was shocked at the poor service we received but I was even more shocked to see it was from the OWNERS child! My child decided awhile ago that Reel Java was harming their mental health and I believe that to be more important than any food or poor service. They have the “Reel Java way” drilled into their heads until they can’t think much else but then are berated over the smallest details. When you look behind the curtain that is Reel Java you see nothing but money hungry owners and a place run by children. This review won’t change peoples minds but I hope it does give a bit of insight into what Reel Java is actually like. I see so many comments on here about the poor service but who can blame them when they’re treated the way my child was. Don’t shame the children who work for these people, shame these people that decided it was good to treat your employees...
Read moreMy traveling companions/co-workers raved about Reel Java. They had visited the former location and loved the food and especially the desserts. The restaurant is now located in Downtown Jamestown. It is a large location with several different seating areas. We were seated after a short wait at high top seating in the bar area, which was perfect for our group. The milk shakes and specialty milk shakes were fantastic. The specialty coffee excellent, but the food is what elevates this restaurant to a higher level. I had the chicken tenders which is my go-to at restaurants. They were hand breaded and cooked to perfection with a side of delicious and hot n fresh fries. Another one in our group had a burger that he said was on point. Our server was fantastic and each interaction with the staff there was positive. The food came out promptly and the prices were reasonable. A huge thumbs up. EDIT SEPTEMBER 2025: Since my original post, I have been 4-5 more times. They've expanded their seating and have alot of space for larger groups. Courtney has been our server almost every time we come in and is very friendly and even remembers our group. The entire staff is friendly and work well together as a team. I had the Mushroom Burger which was absolutely amazing. The Pesto Pizza was also amazing. Their Hot Honey Pizza Appetizer is so tasty. We love coming back--the food and service and atmosphere are great. Oh I had their special soup--Cauliflower Soup. Also very, very good. We're here in the area 2-3 timed a year and this is a must do every...
Read moreComplete fail. I ordered soup with no extra cheese to eat inside while waiting for a calzone, with light sauce, carryout. After sitting for 15 minutes with no soup, my carryout was delivered (with tons of sauce) and my lunch break was almost over. I asked for the soup with no extra cheese to go. I get back to work to find there is extra cheese in the soup instead of none, and the to go container is half the size of the in house bowl (pic of soup "bowl" next to my ear pods for size reference). I went back to get a new soup while allowing the calzone to get cold and my smoothie to melt. I get back with the soup and it's just cheese broth, there is zero broccoli. I just want some broccoli soup (sad face). I being to eat the calzone after scraping off the excess sauce and find that I have no silverware or napkins. The entire $35 lunch was tossed in the garbage because my break is now over and every item was made wrong. I paid WAY too much for the food portion sizes, considering their deserts are monster size. The kids that work there are friendly, but not at all effective. If there was anywhere else town to get a smoothie, I would go there instead. I'll just start making my own and...
