I am frustrated giving them such a low review. I have come here many times and had good reviews. I travel a lot and love small locally grown restaurants which this obviously is. However, last night we arrived with a party of 11. 3 adults and 8 kids. Waitress came right up took orders for appetizers and drinks. The appetizers, and drinks arrived promptly. Then almost 40 min later we had no food. I had watched tables turn over. A family of 5 and another of 4 had all come in after and were already eating or almost done. So I went, found, and inquired the waitress because we had not seen her at our tables since the appetizers were dropped. When asked she was rude and told me they were busy but would "check".. Then appx 10 min after her checking they started bringing food. I believe they lost our ticket or "forgot". Idk. So when they brought our food I asked and she repeated that they are just busy and they take care of smaller orders first, and this is normal. I told her i wanted a manager. He came out and doubled down repeating what she had said. Now, our order was 5 kid hamburgers with fries. 5 adult hamburgers with fries and a catfish dinner. Nothing complex. 1 basket of fries and 10 min on a small griddle. I worked restaurants from 16-26. So..They dropped the ball and would not admit it. The part that really rubbed me wrong more than any of it is they never said, I am sorry. If they had an apologetic tone or understanding that we waited patiently for 40 min with no communication from our waitress. Not 1 refill. Not 1 visit to the table. Not 1 apology or acknowledgement of any ownership and then to make it as if, they are just "busy" and I should be understanding. I will not go back for a while. I will be going to the new pizza place. Really irritated and saddened that they think...
Read moreThis is about the only place we found in town on our way through. There was a waiting line but we decided to chance it anyway and it actually only took about 5 minutes before we had a table. The waitress was pleasant and quick to do drinks and take our order but we had to search her out to get our bill after sitting at our table for at least 15 minutes waiting on it. Seems like there wasn't a clear area for each waitress to take care of and that is likely how we got forgotten, luckily we don't dine and dash or they would have never known it because they hadn't even printed our ticket out until we asked for it. We waited a really long time for what we ordered (approx 30 min) I had the 5-cheese grilled cheese w/potato chips and asked for slices of tomato and onion on the side and my husband had one of their dinners (I can't remember what the meat was but I know it wasn't fried chicken because that always takes a long time). My husband's collard greens tasted "weird"-there's really no other way to describe it-and another side he had tasted the same "weird". Weird seasoning maybe? It was not good though. I have included a pic of my very skimpy grilled cheese and they forgot the tomato and onion (it cost $8.99!!). Different waitresses took our order and delivered the food so I was waiting for someone to come back with the tomato and onion but they didn't. Like I said we were just passing through and wanting to get back on the road after all the time wasted so we didn't request any replacements or...
Read moreOzark Cafe is a charming place for a meal. Located inside of a historic building, the atmosphere was excellent. We went on a Saturday evening and they had live music. The musician did an excellent job of ensuring the volume was loud enough to enjoy, but soft input to still engage in conversation.
The food was good, but not amazing. The menu had a nice variety. All of the potatoes we had were only slightly warm or room temp. We tried the curly fries, fresh cut fries and mashed potatoes. All would have been better if they were hot. The waitress recommended the fried mushrooms and they were really good. Would definitely get those again.
Volcano burger - this was a fun menu item. It’s covered in cheese that flows out onto the plate and is cooked to a perfect crisp. My husband shared a bit of his crispy cheese with me and it was the highlight of the meal - mushrooms were a close second.
BLT - it was fine, but I’ve had better.
Chicken friend chicken - it was okay, but would have been better if it was warmer.
Salad bar - nice variety and everything seemed fresh
Dessert - we didn’t actually order dessert, but I wish I had room for it! All of the desserts they brought out looked amazing. If they taste half as good as they look, you’re in for a treat!
All of the staff was really nice. However, we didn’t get checked on very often and had to flag down to ask for refills.
If I ever find myself in Jasper, I’ll be back! Next time, I am getting friend mushrooms...
